IT WILL BE LIGHT...
Newgrange is a Stone Age monument constructed over 5,000 years ago. Entering this ancient tomb with an inner passage and a cruciform chamber is an exciting step back in time. At dawn on the shortest days of the year (from December 19th to 23rd) a narrow beam of light penetrates the roof-box and reaches the floor of the chamber. The beam widens within the chamber so that the whole room becomes dramatically illuminated. This event lasts for 15 minutes. Each year many gather at the ancient tomb to wait for dawn, as people did 5,000 years ago. So great is the demand to be one of the few inside the chamber during the winter solstice that there is a free annual lottery. The event depends upon sunshine but don't worry! It can be demonstrated with electric light too.

ES WERDE LICHT...
Das ist ein vor etwa 5000 Jahren eingerichtes Hügelgrab mit einem engen Gang und einer kleinen Kammer drinnen. An etwa 10 Tagen um die Wintersonnenwende dringt ein Lichtstrahl bei Sonnenaufgang für ungefähr 15 Minuten in die Kammer. Um dieses Lichtschauspiel zu erleben, kommen jährlich in dieses Heiligtum die Glücklichen, die bei einer Lotterie ausgewählt wurden. Einen Augenblick lang sieht man einen Lichtstrahl, der durch die enge Öffnung über dem Eingang kommt. Dann schlängelt er sich durch den Gang und erhellt schließlich die Kammer. Man bekommt Gänsehaut und das ist noch untertrieben... Keine Sorge, wenn die Sonne nicht erscheint! Das weihnachtliche Sonnenschauspiel wird mit Hilfe eines elektrischen Lichtstrahls erzeugt.

TEBŪNIE ŠVIESA...
Niugrendžas, vienas garsiausių akmens amžiaus pilkapių, yra sukonstruotas maždaug prieš 5000 metų. Jis gali būti vadinamas ir Senovės Šventykla. Trumpiausiomis metų dienomis - nuo gruodžio 19 d. iki 23 d. auštant siauras šviesos spindulys pro angą virš durų prasiskverbia vidun. Saulei kylant spindulių juosta platėja, kol vidus sutviska ryškia šviesa. Tai trunka apie 15 min. Kasmet per Kalėdas daugybė žmonių susirenka į Niugrendžą ir laukia aušros - kaip ir prieš 5000 metų. Jei saulė nepasirodys, ši kalėdinis saulės žaismas gali būti pademonstruotas ir elektros šviesos pagalba. Kam visgi pavyksta patirti realųjį saulės spindulio virsmą šviesa, turbūt jaučiasi magiškai?

Actually, the city is looking green. Only the White House is white... Even a concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Ch. Brown "Christmas" (December 20) took place in the green West Garden Court of National Gallery of Art. The Central Bucks High School - West Chamber Choir and the world-famous Eric Mintel Quartet (piano, bass, drums, sax oder flute) that presidents B. Clinton (1998) and B. Obama (2011) invited to perform at the White House made a wonderful Christmas atmosphere in the green room.

Weiß ist nun nur das Weiße Haus, alles andere: es grünt so grün... Sogar das Konzert zum 50. Jubiläum von "Christmas" von Ch. Brown fand am 20. Dez. im grünen Garten der Nationalgalerie statt. Daran nahmen der Chor der Hochschule Bucks sowie das weltberühmte Quartett von E. Mintel (piano, bass, drums, sax oder flute) teil. Das Quartett, das von Präsidenten B. Clinton (1998) und B. Obama (2011) ins Weiße Haus eingeladen wurde, hat im grünen Raum mit Hilfe seines lyrisch-dynamischen Jazz-Stils auf einmal eine frohe Weihnachtstimmung geschaffen.

Balti yra tik Baltieji rūmai, visur kitur - žalia žalia kur dairais... Net gruodžio 20 d. aplankytas koncertas (nemokamas), skirtas Charlie'o Brown'o "Kalėdų" 50-mečiui, vyko Nacionalinės galerijos vakarinėje rotondoje tarp gėlių ir žalumynų. Koncertavo Bucks'o koledžo choras ir garsiojo pianisto E. Mintel'o kvartetas (pianinas, bosinė gitara, mušamieji, saksofonas arba fleita). Šį kvartetą į Baltuosius Rūmus buvo pasikvietę prezidentai B. Clintonas (1998 m.) ir B. Obama (2011). Kvartetas, koncertavęs visame pasaulyje, sugeba savo džiazo energetika užkrėsti visus, kas yra aplinkui. Iš tiesų, žalioji erdvė tiesiog vibravo Kalėdų džiugesiu...

In New York, it is the highest temperature in December since records began in 1871. On the East Coast of the USA, the winter 2015 is record warm. I wish you the nice wamth of Christmas Eve from New York for the whole year!
Der wärmste Heiligabend in meinem Leben!
In New York ist es aussergewöhnlich warm für Dezember: + 74 F (europäisch etwa + 24 C). Das ist die höchste Temperatur seit dem Anfang der Wetterbeobachtung im Jahre 1871. Dieser Winter ist an der Ostküste der USA unglaublich warm. Unglaublich warm ist auch der Heiligabend. Beim Chorkonzert in einer Kirche fliegen warme Gedanken nach Litauen. Die Stimmung wird nicht kühler auch nach einer Schale Eis in Form eines Christbaums aus 12 Komponenten in einem italienischen Café, das voll von feiernden ItalienerInnen ist.
Es bleibe die Wäme von Heiligabend für das ganze Jahr!

Niujorkiečiai į gatves išėjo su marškinėliais – į miestą atplūdo rekordinė šiluma. Kaip pranešė meteorologijos tarnyba, dieną oro temperatūra galėjo pakilti iki 74 laipsnių amerikietiškai (pagal Fahrenheitą) ir 23,3 europietiškai (pagal Celsijų). Ir tai būtų pirmas toks kartas nuo 1871-ųjų, kai buvo pradėti orų stebėjimai. Žiema JAV Rytų pakrantėje kol kas neįtikėtinai švelni. Tad į duris pasibeldė ir itin šiltos Kūčios. Klausantis bažnyčioje jungtinio - berniukų, mergaičių ir vyrų - choro koncerto (nemokamas) šiltos mintys skraidino ir į Lietuvą. Neatvėsino nuotaikos ir eglutės formos ledų porcija iš 12 komponentų itališkoje kavinėje, pilnoje Kūčias švenčiančių italų.
Te visus metus karaliauja ši Kūčių šiluma!

Over New York is the Christmas fog,
but it is pleasantly warm for December - + 59° F. Everywhere you can hear "Merry Christmas!" instead of "Hello!" The early Christmas walk leads to the Brooklyn Bridge that connects Brooklyn and Manhattan, then - to the National September 11 Memorial and after that - to the Stock Exchange of New York with a sparkling Christmas Tree in front.
The Christmas walk in the afternoon begins at the most famous Christmas Tree of the city by Rockefeller Center. Then you can make a short break in St. Patrick's Cathedral before you go to admire the Fifth Avenue with the wonderful illuminated buildings as well the holiday window displays at the city's biggest department stores. On top of that, it is the entire front facade of the store Saks that is transformed into a winter palace complete with crystal spires and a light show involving more than 225,000 illuminated elements.
Merry Christmas from New York, from the American capital of Christmas!
New York liegt im Weihnachtsnebel,
aber es ist für Dezember angenehm warm - + 15° C. Überall klingt "Merry Christmas!" (anstatt "Hello!").
Der Tag beginnt mit dem ruhigen Weihnachtsspaziergang auf der langen Brooklyn - Brücke, die Manhattan mit Brooklyn verbindet und führt vorbei am Memorial für den 11. September zur Börse von New York mit dem üppigen Christbaum davor.
Der Weihnachtsspaziergang am Nachmittag beginnt am berühmtesten Christbaum der Stadt, der am Rockefeller - Zentrum steht, wo immer noch ein Springbrunnen funktioniert. In der Nähe kann man eine Pause in der St. Patrick - Kathedrale machen und dann die betäubende 5. Avenue mit den weihnachtlich leuchtenden Gebäuden sowie glitzernden Schaufenstern bewundern. Eindrucksvoll ist die Fassade des Einkaufzentrums Saks, die sich in ein Winterschloss verwandelt, wenn darauf eine Lichtshou beginnt, wofür mehr als 225 000 Beleuchtungselemente benutzt werden.

Niujorkas skendi kalėdiniame rūke, kuris prigesino Kūčių kaitrą. Bet vis tiek šilta - plius 15° C, nors dar tik 9 val. ryto. Vietoj "Labas!" visi sveikinasi "Linksmų Kalėdų!"
Kalėdinė nuojauta atvedė prie Bruklino tilto, kuris jungia Manhetaną ir Brukliną ir kuris tinka ramiam kalėdiniam apmąstymui. Po to kalėdinis srautas atvedė prie Niujorko dvynių memorialo ir Niujorko biržos su puošnia Kalėdų egle. Popietinis turas prasidėjo prie Rokfelerio centro, kur stovi garsiausia Niujorko eglė. Šalia - prie vis dar trykštančio fontano - įrengta čiuožykla. Netoliese - St. Patriko katedra ir 5-oji aveniu, kur parduotuvių vitrinose vyksta performansai, o pastatų iliuminacijų žaismui akomponuoja muzika. Viso to viršūnė turbūt yra Prekybos centras Saks, kurio fasadas virsta žiemos rūmais su kristaliniais bokštais, kai ant jo prasideda šviesos šou, kuriam naudojama daugiau nei 225 000 iliuminacijos elementų. Niujorkas laikomas Kalėdų sostine. Linksmų Kalėdų iš Kalėdų sostinės!

An estimated one million pilgrims visit the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington each year. Christmas and New Year Time - it is something especially in this roman catholic pilgrimage site honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, the principal Patroness of the USA. The shrine is the largest Catholic church in the United States and North America, one of the ten largest churches in the world, and the tallest habitable building in Washington. There are erected 70 chapels dedicated to Virgin Mary from all the world. Next to the central altar is the Lithuanian chapel with the Lady Mary of Šiluva.
