BEGINNING: IT'S LIGHTENING EVERYWHERE!
Lightening Šiauliai 2020! And lightening Nian 2020 next to Šiauliai! If you wanted, you could celebrate New Year 2020 like usually in the illuminated Šiauliai, as well as on Chinese art between the gleaming lanterns in the Manor of Pakruojis. The Chinese Laterns Festivals go back more than 4000 years. It marks the last day of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Since the 19th century, Chinese culture became popular also in Lithuania, and the owner of Pakruojis Manor was interested in it too.

Es leuchtet Šiauliai 2020! Und es leuchtet Nian 2020 in der Nähe von Šiauliai. Wer wollte, konnte Silvester sowohl europäisch im beleuchteten Šiauliai feiern, als auch auf chinesische Art unter den glänzenden Laternen im Herrenhaus von Pakruojis.
Die chinesischen Neujahrsfestivale der Laternen finden schon seit 4000 Jahren statt und sie sind auch in anderen Ländern populär. Die Adligen von Litauen fanden Interesse an chinesische Kultur schon seit dem 19. Jh. Dafür interessierten sich auch die Besitzer vom Herrenhaus in Pakruojis.

Šiauliai šviečia 2020! Ir Nian šviečia 2020, beje, netoli Šiaulių! Kas norėjo turėti du viename, galėjo Naujuosius sutiktiki ne tik europietiškai apšviestuose Šiauliuose įprastai, bet ir pagal Mėnulio kalendorių tarp kinietiškų žibintų Pakruojo dvare, tiesa, beveik mėnesiu ankščiau. Naujametiniams Kinijos žibintų festivaliams daugiau nei 4000 metų. Bėgant laikui, tokie festivaliai išpopuliarėjo ir kitose šalyse. Pasakojimai byloja, kad 19 a. ne vienas Lietuvos dvarininkas rodė ypatingą susidomėjimą Kinijos kultūra. Ši mada neaplenkė ir Pakruojo dvaro šeimininkų.

PAKRUOJIS MANOR
The Manor has been first mentioned in written sources
in 1531, and it had many owners. Since 1786, Pakruojis Manor has been owned and ruled by several von der Ropp generations. After the war, there was an agricultural technical school. Currently, it is reconstructed and there you could feel the old spirit again. We walked with a Baroness through the decorated rooms listening to the clocks, that struck the last hours of the old year. Inside, there glistened mystically candles and candelabras, and behind the windows outside, you could see exotic lights of the Chinese lanterns.
HERRENHAUS VON PAKRUOJIS
Erstmal wurde es 1531 schriftlich erwähnt. Die Besitzer änderten sich oft, bis die deutsch-baltische Familie von Ropp nach Pakruojis kam. Das Anwesen gehörte der Familie Ropp von 1786 bis 1944. In der Sowjetzeit befanden sich hier unterschiedliche Schulen, aber jetzt herrscht da wieder ein adliger Geist. In Begleitung einer Baronesse spazierten wir durch die weihnachtlich geschmückten Räume lauschend, wie die Uhren des Palastes die letzten Stunden des alten Jahres schlagen. Drinnen schimmerten mystisch Kerzen und Leuchter, während draußen exotische Lichter der chinesischen Laternen glänzten.

Pirmą kartą rašyt šaltiniuose minimas 1531.
Keitėsi jo savininkai, ir tik nuo 18 a. pabaigos iki 1944 m. jis pagaliau priklausė vienai giminei - baronų fon Ropų dinastijai. Sovietų laikais čia veikė žemės ūkio technikumas, bet dabar čia vėl viešpatauja baroniška dvasia. Baronaitės lydimi vaikščiojome šventiškai išpuoštomis rūmų salėmis dvaro laikrodžiams skaičiuojant paskutines metų valandas. Viduje šiek tiek mistišką nuotaiką kūrė europietiškai prigesinti žvakių ir sietynų atspidžiai, o už langų mirgėjo egzotiškos kinietiškų žibintų šviesos.

CHINESE LANTERNS AS NEW YEAR SYMBOLS
On the last day of the year, you think of course about the New Year 2020, the year of the Metal Rat. In the Chinese zodiac circle, the Rat is the first one of the twelve animals, that you discover in the Festival 'The great Chinese Lanterns as signs of the Universe 2020' at first. You could see the animals just at the gate of Pakruojis Manor standing around the fabled monster Nian, a traditional Chinese symbol of the New Year. According to the myth, the Jade Emperor organised a race for a group of animals on his birthday, the results of which determined the order of the Chinese zodiac. The rat was able to hitch a ride on the back of the ox, jumping off at the finish line in order to win first place and be named the first animal in the cycle. So, the ox was the second one, then followed the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog and the pig. In the Festival of Pakruojis you could enjoy many other lighting animals too...
CHINESISCHE LATERNEN ALS SYMBOLE DES NEUJAHRS
Der letzte Tag des alten Jahres ging zu Ende und die Gedanken kreisten sich immer öfter um das Neue Jahr 2020, das Jahr der Metall-Ratte. Im chinesischen Tierkreis ist die Ratte das erste der zwölf Tiere, die im Festival "Die großen chinesischen Laternen als Zeichen des Weltalls 2020" zuerst auffalen. Die Tiere stehen gleich am Tor des Herrenhauses im Kreis um das bösartige Monster Nian, das traditionelle chinesische Symbol des Neuen Jahres. Die Ratte ist also das angesehenste Zeichen des chinesischen Horoskops.
Es war einmal vor langer Zeit, als Gott Tiere
zum Neujahrsfest eingeladen hat. Nur zwölf Tiere sind erschienen. Die Kuh war die Erste, aber sie bemerkte nicht, dass die Ratte flink auf ihren Rücken geklettert war. Die Ratte sprang runter und schaffte als erstes Tier vor den Gott zu treten. Die Kuh war also die Zweite, dann folgten der Tiger, der Hase, der Drache, die Schlange, das Pferd, das Schaf, der Affe, der Hahn, der Hund und als letztes das Schwein. Im Festival von Pakruojis leuchteten auch viele andere Tiere...
KINIJOS ŽIBINTAI: NUJŲJŲ METŲ ŽENKLAI
Saičiuojant paskutines šių metų valandas, mintys vis labiau krypo link naujųjų 2020-ųjų, kuriuos globos Baltoji Žiurkė. Ji - viena iš dvylikos kinų zodiako ženklų, kurie festivalyje "Didieji Kinijos žibintai. Visatos ženklai 2019" pasitiko vos įžengus pro Pakruojo dvaro vartus. Zodiako ženklai dar lapkritį buvo išrikiuoti aplink kinų tradicinį Naujųjų metų simbolį siaubūną Nian. Žiurkė kinų zodiakų cikle stovi pati pirmoji ir yra laikoma gerbiamiausiu ženklu. Kaip pasakoja legenda, Buda pakvietė visus karalystės gyvūnus į kinų Naujųjų metų šventę, tačiau tik dvylika būtybių joje pasirodė. Pirmoji atvyko žiurkė, turėjusi drąsos nušokti nuo karvės nugaros taip atvykdama pirma. Tad antroji liko karvė, po jos sekė tigras, triušis (arba katinas), drakonas, gyvatė, arklys, ožka, beždžionė, gaidys, šuo ir kiaulė... Be zodiako ženklų, Pakruojo festivalyje švietė daug ir kitų gyvūnų.

THE CHINESE NEW YEAR, OR SPRING FESTIVAL
The Chinese New Year, know also as the Spring Festival,
is called "Guo Nian", which literally means "to conquer the Nian". It's interesting, that in Lithuania, this New Year's Eve reminded us about the spring too: It was raining from time to time. But it didn't matter, because you could enjoy wonderful lightening Chinese gardens, flowers, animals and temple, created by 20 artists from China during 3 weeks. More than 30 thematic light installations were made from material looking like Chinese silk. Chinese New Year Lantern Festival of Pakruojis was certainly only a mini copy of all the impressive Lantern festivals, which take place in China. But it was a good start to get in the mood of the New Year in Lithuania. The play of lights among the trees of the old park symbolized human ability to unite fire and art. The most important color was red, because it could conquer the fabled monster Nian and bring good luck. Therefore in China, the streets, buildings and homes are decorated with red lanterns, red verses and red pictures welcoming the New Year. The Chinese New Year celebrations continue 7 days, and the Lantern Festival marks the last day of it.
CHINESISCHES NEUJAHR: EIN FRÜHLINGSFEST
Das chinesische Neujahr, auch bekannt als Frühlingsfest,
heißt "Guo Nian", was wörtlich bedeutet "den Nian bezwingen". In Litauen erinnerte dieser Silvester auch an den Frühling: es regnete sogar ab und zu. Aber der Regen hatte keinen Einfluss auf die eindrucksvoll leuchtenden chinesischen Gärten, Blumen, Tiere und Tempel, die von 20 Künstlern von China im Laufe von 3 Wochen geschaffen wurden. Für die Skulpturen wurde etwa 16000 m Stoff verwendet, der die chinesische Seide imitiert. Das Fest der chinesischen Laternen von Pakruojis ist sicherlich nur eine Minikopie von allen den eindrucksvollen Laternenfesten, die in China stattfinden. Aber es war ein schöner Einstieg für das Neue Jahr in Litauen. Das Spiel der Lichter unter den Bäumen des alten Parks symbolisierte menschliche Fähigkeit Feuer und Kunst zu vereinen. Die wichtigste Farbe war rot, denn sie bezwingt das bösartige Monster Nian und bringt Glück. Deshalb schmückt man die Straßen, Gebäude und Häuser in China mit roten Laternen, roten Versen und roten Bildern für das Neujahr. Das chinesische Neujahr, das 7 Tage dauert, endet mit einem eindrucksvollen Fest der Laternen.
KINŲ NAUJIEJI - PAVASARIO ŠVENTĖ
"Guo Nian", taip kinietiškai vadinasi Naujieji Metai,
kas reiškia "nugalėti Nian". Kinų Naujieji yra pavasario šventė, o ir Lietuvoje naujametinis vakaras priminė pavasarį. Buvo pradėję net lynoti, bet gamta turbūt prisiminė, kad gruodžio 31-oji yra žiema ir liovėsi. Lietus neturėjo jokio poveikio: parko tamsoje švytėjo kinietiški šviesos sodai, gėlynai, gyvūnai, šventyklos. Pakruojo festivalio skulptūroms sukurti panaudota daugiau nei 16 tūkst. metrų kinišką šilką primenančios medžiagos. Darbai truko apie tris savaites, o prie skulptūrų dirbo apie 20 kūrėjų. Dar prieš pasiekiant Lietuvą kinų dailininkai ir dekoratoriai darbus atliko savo šalyje.
Rudens ir žiemos metu organizuojami žibintų renginiai
Kinijoje skirti tamsos išsklaidymui ir šventinės nuotaikos kūrimui. Pakruojo Žibintų festivalis turbūt yra tik minikopija viso to, kas vyksta Kinijoje, bet jis buvo puikus fonas artėjantiems lietuviškiems Naujiesiems metams. Šviesų žaismas tarp ošiančių senųjų Pakruojo parko medžių puikiai simbolizavo žmogaus gebėjimą valdyti ir jungti ugnį bei meną. Raudona - svarbiausia šventės spalva, kuri atbaido naujametinį siaubūną Nian ir simbolizuoja sėkmę. Todėl būtent raudonais žibintais per Naujuosius išpuošiamos gatvės, pastatai ir namai Kinijoje. Kinų Naujieji tęsiasi 7 dienas ir baigiasi įspūdinga Žibintų švente.

NEW YEAR'S DINNER IN CHINA AND LITHUANIA
On New Year's Eve, the dinner with family or friends is important in Lithuania, as well as in China. During the Lantern Festival in Pakruojis you could eat Chinese dishes too, take part in the Chinese tea ceremony, as well as enjoy performances of artists from China. But you could also visit the old Lithuanian pub and have a fun time with a glass of beer, Lithuanian food and Lithuanian folk music. Of course, you didn't forget the toasts 'Happy New Year!' or 'Welcome to the Chinese Year of the Rat!' According to the lunar calendar, Chinese New Year, known as Lunar New Year too, begins on January 25th, 2020.
DAS NEUJAHRSESSEN IN CHINA UND IN LITAUEN
Das Essen am Silvesterabend
im Familien- oder Freundeskreis ist eine heilige
Sache sowohl in Litauen, als auch in China. Während des Laternenfestes in Pakruojis konnte man chinesische Speisen probieren, an der chinesischen Teezeremonie teilnehmen
sowie Auftritte der Artisten aus China beobachten.
Man konnte aber auch die alte Hofkneipe besuchen, wo es
richtig entspannt mit einem Glas Bier, litauischen Speisen und litauischer Volksmusik zuging. Natürlich gab es Trinksprüche "Prosit Neujahr!" oder auf chinesische Art - "Willkommen im Jahr der Ratte!" Zwar ist es erst in zwanzig Tagen soweit, denn die Chinesen folgen dem Mondkalender.
Demzufolge fällt das Neujahrsfest auf den zweiten Neumond nach der Wintersonnenwende. Also ist das Neujahr nicht am
1., sondern am 25. Januar 2020.
NAUJIEJI - VALGYMO ŠVENTĖ KINIJOJE IR LIETUVOJE
Naujametinis smaguriavims su šeima ar draugais - šventas dalykas ir Lietuvoje, ir Kinijoje. Pakruojo šviesų festivalyje galėjai mėgautis ir kinietiškais patiekalais, ir stebėti kinų arbatos gėrimo ceremoniją bei artistų iš Kinijos pasirodymis. O po to - pirmyn į senąją dvaro spirito varyklą ragauti kadaise čia gamintų gėrimų arba tiesiog gurkšnoti lietuvišką alų dainuojant ir grojant Žaldokui. Be abejo, vis nepamirštant tosto "Su Naujais 2020!" Arba kinietiškai: "Su Žiurkės Metais!" Nors iki jų dar beveik mėnuo, nes kinai gyvena pagal Mėnulio kalendorių ir jų Naujieji prasideda po žiemos saulėgrąžos (gruodžio 22) danguje antrą kartą pasirodžius jaunam mėnuliui. Tai bus 2020 sausio 25 dieną.

THE YEAR OF THE RAT 2020
In the Lantern Festival of Pakruojis, the Rat didn't take part,
but there you could see a very nice mouse. The Rat isn't a very sympathetic animal, but it is a clever and quick thinker and symbolizes intelligence in culture, which means both cuteness and shrewdness. 2020 is the Year of Metallrat and its color - white or silver - symbolizes purity, wisdom and perfection. The Rat is the first sign of the 12 animals of the Chinese Horoscope, and it is, why this year symbolizes new beginning and renewal. On 25th January, we get a new clean year ('tabula rasa') as a gift with new possibilities, love and money. Good luck!
DAS JAHR DER RATTE 2020
Am Laternenfest von Pakruojis nahm keine Ratte,
sonderns ein sehr liebes Mäuschen teil. Die Ratte ist kein besonders sympathisches Tier, es hat aber eine hohe Intelligenz und Intuition. Schlau bewältigt die Ratte alle Lebensprobleme. Die Schirmherrschaft des Elements des Jahres - das Metall, das für Festigkeit und Entschlossenheit steht. Die Farbe des Jahres - weiß oder silbern - symbolisiert Reinheit, Weisheit und Perfektion.
Die Ratte ist das erste Zeichen aus dem 12 Tierkreislauf des chinesischen Horoskops, deshalb wird diese Zeitspanne als ein Jahr des Neubeginns und der Erneuerung betrachtet. Am 25. Januar erhalten wir ein neues sauberes Jahr ("tabula rasa")
als Geschenk mit neuen Möglichkeiten, Liebe und Geld.

Na, bent jau Pakruojo dvaro festivalyje, dalyvavo ne žiurkė, o labai mielas peliukas. Nors ir nelabai simpatiška, bet žiurkė - ženklas, kuris pasižymi aukštu intelektu ir intuicija. Šis gudrus gyvūnas lengvai susidoroja su bet kokiomis užduotimis ir gyvenimo problemomis. Ateinančių metų elementas - metalas, įkūnijantis atkaklumą, jėgą, ryžtą, ypatingai derės su oficialia metų spalva - balta, kuri yra išminties, nuoširdumo, tobulumo simbolis. Žiurkė yra pirmasis zodiako ženklas ir jis simbolizuoja naujo ir atsinaujinimo pradžią. Pamirškime visas klaidas! If the lighting is bright, every party will go with a swing!
Already our Lithuanian New Year's jazz - beginning at the sign 'ŠIAULIAI ŠVIEČIA 2020' ('Šiauliai is lightening') and ending at the most illuminated house of Šiauliai and with fireworks over Šiauliai - keep us in a festive mood. But between the beginning and end, there were more lights. In the Garden of Pakruojis Manor, you could enjoy exotic lightening sculptures and lanterns welcoming the Year of the Rat. In 2020, Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 25 January and ends 8 February, 2021.
In the Lantern Festival, it was recommended to go to
the light sculpture, that you like especially. In such a way, you could discover your prophetic symbol for the New Year. What this means for your life, you can interpret how you will. I would plead for pandas, that climb playing on a tree. It's sad, that the rats have the ability to climb over walls too and run across roofs as if flying. Perhaps, let's see! Anyway, welcome to in the Year of the Rat! May continue such a light journey for you during the year - with shining lanterns not only over the head, but under the feet too!

DER NEUJAHRSJAZZ AUF LITAUISCH UND CHINESISCH
Sein Anfang war litauisch und zwar dort, wo auf dem
Hauptplatz von Šiauliai ein riesiges Schild "ŠIAULIAI ŠVIEČIA 2020!" ("Šiauliai leuchtet 2020") eingerichtet ist. Das Ende war auch litauisch - am meist weihnachtlich beleuchteten Haus von Šiauliai und mit Feuerwerken über Šiauliai. Zwischen dem Anfang und Ende waren exotische chinesische Lichtvariationen im Garten des Herrenhauses von Pakruojis. Die leuchtenden Installationen waren dann Anfang Januar gelöscht, aber sie kündigten an, dass die Metallratte in sein Jahr am 25. Januar 2020 kommt und ihre Herrschaft am 11. Februar 2021 beendet. Im Laternenfest wurde empfohlen, zu der Lichtinstallation
zu gehen, die am meisten zieht, und auf solche Weise sein prophetisches Symbol für das Neujahr finden.Was dies für euer Leben bedeutet,, kann jeder selbst interpretieren.
Ich würde für Pandas plädieren, die spielend auf einen Baum kletterten. Eigentlich behauptet man, dass auch die Ratten die Wände entlang klettern oder sogar über die Dächer laufen können, als ob sie fliegen würden. Vielleicht, mal sehen! Auf jeden Fall, willkommen im Jahr der Ratte! Mögen die glänzenden Laternen nicht nur über den Kopf, sondern auch unter den Füßen das ganze Jahr leuchten!

LIETUVIŠKAI KINIETIŠKAS NAUJŲJŲ DŽIAZAS
Jis prasidėjo lietuviškai, ten, kur miesto centrinėje aikštėje
švietė užrašas: "ŠIAULIAI ŠVIEČIA 2020!" Ir baigėsi jis lietuviškai, prie ryškiausiai apšviesto kalėdinio namo Šiauliuose ir žybsint fejerverkams virš Šiaulių.
Tarp pradžios ir pabaigos buvo egzotiškos kinietiškos šviesų variacijos Pakruojo dvare. Šie šviesų festivalio žibintai buvo užgesinti dar sausio pradžioje, bet jie signalizavo, kad ateina Žiurkės metai. Ir jie prasidės šeštadienį, 2020 m. sausio 25 ir baigsis 2021 vasario 11.
Pakruojo šviesų festivalyje buvo patariama eiti prie to žibinto, kuris labiausiai traukia, ir įsižiūrėti - tai tavo Naujųjų metų pranašas! Labiausiai traukė ne žiurkės, o pandos, besikarstančios po medžius... Nors, sako, kad ir žiurkės gali laipioti sienomis ir lakstyti stogais tarsi skraidytų. Galbūt, pažiūrėsim.
