Jedes Jahr feiern tausende Menschen das Neue Jahr am Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. Das ist die größte Silvesterparty Europas. Dieses Jahr waren wir auch dabei. Interessant?

Midday in Berlin: It doesn't rain more
and it's so unusually warm here - plus 12. It may be that the New Year's Eve sets record in Germany: The temperatures are plus 7 on the Baltic Sea and plus 16 in the southern part of the country.
Today is Sunday, and all the shops are closed. But in Berlin, you can still visit Christmas markets with ice rinks and toboggan hills (at the Potsdamer Square). In cafés (inside and outside) you can see many visitors popping the champagne corks, and you can do it too. There are opened museums, as well as observation towers in the city...

Der Regen hört in Berlin gegen Mittag auf. Es ist warm.
Es kann sein, dass der Silvestertag in Deutschland einen Wärmerekord aufstellt: Die Temperaturen liegen bei 7 Grad an der Ostsee und 16 in der Südhälfte des Landes. Laut Kachelmannwetter werden an einzelnen Orten von Berlin 12 Grad gemessen.
Es ist Sonntag und alle Geschäfte sind zu. Aber in der Stadt funktionieren immer noch Weihnachtsmärkte mit Eisbahnen oder Rodelbahnen (am Potsdamer Platz). In Cafés (drinnen und draußen) lassen viele Besucher die Korken knallen. Es sind Museen sowie Aussichtstürme geöffnet...

Ryte Berlyne krapnojo lietutis, kuris liovėsi apie pietus. Paskutinė metų diena Vokietijoje yra rekordiškai šilta: prie Baltijos jūros +7, pietinėje šalies dalyje + 16, o Berlyne fiksuojama net iki 12 laipsnių šilumos.
Šiandien sekmadienis, tad visos parduotuvės uždarytos. Bet dar tebeveikia kalėdinės mugės, šalia kurių įrengtos čiuožyklos ar net rogių takas. Ūžia kavinės viduje ir lauke.
Atidaryti muziejai ir apžvalgos bokštai...

At 2:00 p.m., the area of the Silvesterparty
at the Brandenburg Gate is opened. Admission to the New
Year's festival is free, but it is too early to go to the party,isn't it? Now, it would be better to visit the viewing platform of the highest skyscraper in the Potsdamer Square. From here you can see for miles across the city roofs. Very sad that Berlin is covered with the grey mist. But you can see well the Brandenburg Gate and many people walking to the Silvesterparty.
Suddenly, the rays of the setting sun break through the mist and send the last sun kiss to Berlin -
see you next year!
From 5:00 p.m., gun saluts and fireworks begin to thunder. In Berlin, the last steps of the old year seem to sound like the exploding opening bars of the 'Fate Symphony' of Beethoven:
'TA-TA-TA-TAAA!
Actually, thus New Year can knock at the door too...

14.00 - 17.00 UHR
Um 14.00 Uhr wird die Festmeile am Brandenburger Tor geöffnet. Der Eintritt ist frei.
Aber es ist noch zu früh zur Neujahrsparty, oder?
Wäre es nicht besser zuerst die Aussichtsplattform in einem der Wolkenkratzer vom Potsdamer Platz zu besuchen? Von hier aus sieht man weit und breit. Leider liegt Berlin in Grau. Doch kann man den Betrieb am Brandenburger Tor richtig gut sehen, wo sich die Partymeile richtig schnell füllt. Unerwartet brechen die Strahlen der untergehenden Sonne durch und schicken den letzten Sonnenkuß für Berlin - bis zum nächsten Jahr!
Ab 17. 00 Uhr beginnen Böller und Feuerwerke zu donnern.
Die letzten Schritte des alten Jahres scheinen in Berlin wie die explodierenden Takte der "Schicksalssymphonie" von Beethoven zu tönen: "DA - DA- DA- DAAA!"
So kann eigentlich auch das Neujahr an die Pforte pochen!

14.00 - 17.00 VAL.
Antrą valandą prasideda naujametinis vakarėlis prie Brandenburgo vartų.
Vakarėlis nemokamas, bet negi eisi taip anksti? Tad Potsdamo aikštėje pakylame į aukščiausią dangoraižį, kur įrengta apžvalgos aikštelė. Iš čia Berlynas kaip ant delno! Galima įžvelgti net sujudimą prie Brandenburgo vartų, kur gausiai renkasi lankytojai.
Netikėtai pro debesų ūką prasiveržę besileidžiančios saulės spinduliai pasiunčia atsisveikinimo bučinį Berlynui - iki kitų metų!
Apie 17 val Berlynas pradeda dundėti ne tik nuo fejerverkų, bet ir nuo šūvių, kurie, atrodo, tarsi būtų paleisti iš patrankos. Paskutiniai senujų metų žingsniai Berlyne aidi tarsi Beethoven'o "Likimo simfonijos" dūžiai: DA - DA- DA- DAAA!
Nors kaip čia pažiūrėsi - galbūt taip į duris beldžiasi Naujieji Metai?

6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.

and it's not allowed to bring chairs. You go to party to celebrate, not to sit, isn't it?
So, we take place in a pub next to the Charlottenburger Castle. Through the window, you can watch the fireworks rising constantly above the castle. It seems, as soon as the New Year knocked at the door of Charlottenburg, it was opened. There's no tomorrow in the west part of Berlin?

18.00-19.00 UHR
Nun wäre es ratsam, sich irgendwo kurz niederzulassen.
In der Silvesterparty gibt es keine Sitzplätze und man darf auch keine Stühle mitbringen.
Man geht ja zur Party feiern, nicht sitzen!
So nehmen wir Platz in einer Bierkneipe in der Nähe des Charlottenburger Schlosses. Beim Abendessen kann man durch die Fenster die Feuerwerke am Schloss beobachten, die unaufhörlich in den Himmel steigen. Es scheint, dass sobald das Neujahr an die Pforte von Charlottenburg geklopft hat, wurde sie gleich geöffnet. Gibt es keinen Morgen hier im westlichen Teil von Berlin?

18.00-19.00 VAL.
Dabar reikėtų kažkur prisėsti. Naujametiniame vakarėlyje sėdimų vietų nėra,
kėdžių atsinešti irgi negalima. Juk einama ten ne sėdėti, o sutikti Naujųjų Metų!
Paskutinei vakarienei prisėdome tradicinėje vokiškoje aludėje šalia Šarlotenburgo rūmų. Pro aludės langus matyti, kaip nuo rūmų be perstojo į dangų kyla fejeverkai. Matyt, vos tik Naujieji stuktelėjo į vartus, Šarlotenburgo gyventojai juos tuoj ir atidarė. Išsigando, kad vakariniame Berlyno pakraštyje rytojus gali ir neišaušti?

8:00 P.M. - 8.30 P.M.
We return to the Potsdamer Square with the hope to reach the area of the Silvesterparty very quickly. But the both entrances at the Brandenburg Gate, where is the main stage, are already closed because of crowded area. You need to go to the next checkpoint about 1 km. On the way, you can hear and see constantly exploding fireworks. There is always midnight somewhere. A few hours earlier or later - it isn't important in Berlin...
The front of the entrance is terribly crowded. Over loudspeakers, it is asked to go to the next entrance at the Victory Column (Siegessäule), located 1 km away. But then, you have to return about 2 km to the main stage! So, the most of people remain standing in the crowd, where the situation becomes critical. It is a thousand pities that we didn't chose to stay in a café, where you can celebrate New Year with a glass of champagne and relax! Pity or not, but there is no way back!!! Suddenly, you can see a guard who asks to make the entrance free... No attention! Then, the group of guards appears and calls to order once more. Finally, you can breathe in and out again! In one hour, this entrance will be closed too.

On the website of the Silvesterparty, it's recommended to enter the area of the party till 7 p.m., if you don't want to have problems. A GOOD TIP!!!
The party kicked off at 2 p.m. and continued until 3:00 in the morning of the New Year. There were 6 entrances,
two of which were closed already at 8 p.m., the third one (that we chose) - at 9:30 p.m.,
and the last three points - at 11.30 p.m.

20.00 - 20.30 UHR
Wir kehren zum Potsdamer Platz zurück
mit der Hoffnung, dass man von hier zur Silvestermeile am schnellsten kommt. Die Hauptbühne befindet sich am Brandenburger Tor. Aber das Gedränge dort ist vermutlich zu groß, denn beide Eingänge am Brandenburger Tor sind schon geschlossen. Man muss etwa 1 km bis zum nächsten Kontrollpunkt gehen, indem man immer wieder knallende Feuerwerke hört. Irgendwo ist halt immer Mitternacht! Ein paar Stunden früher oder später - ist es so wichtig?
Das Gedränge vor dem nächsten Eingang ist groß. Durch Lautsprecher wird immer wieder
gebeten, noch 1 km bis zum nächsten Kontrollpunkt an der Siegessäule zu gehen. Dann muss man aber ein paar km bis zur Hauptbühne zurückkehren. So gehen nur wenige weiter. Die meisten bleiben im Gedränge, wo die Situation kritisch wird. Schade, dass wir uns in einem Café nicht niedergelassen haben, wo man das Neujahr ausgelassen mit einem Glas Sekt feiern kann! Schade oder nicht, aber es gibt keinen Weg zurück!!!
Da kommt ein Ordner und bittet alle, den Eingang frei zu machen... Keine Reaktion! Dann kommt eine Gruppe von Polizisten und macht doch die Ordnung. Und sehr professionell! Endlich kann man ein- und ausatmen! In einer Stunde wird auch dieser Eingang geschlossen.

Auf der Webseite der Silvesterparty wird empfohlen, die Festmeile gegen 19 Uhr zu betreten, wenn man kurz an den Einlasskontrollen warten will. EIN GUTER TIPP!!!
Die Party dauerte von 14 Uhr bis 3 Uhr morgens. Es gab 6 Eingänge, zwei davon wurden schon um 20 Uhr,
der dritte (den wir wählten) - um 21.30 und die drei letzten - um 23.30 Uhr geschlossen.

20.00 - 20.30 VAL.
Grįžtame į Potsdamo aikštę, tikėdamiesi iš čia
greičiausiai patekti į naujametinį vakarėlį. Pagrindinė vakarėlio scena yra prie Brandenburgo vartų. Bet scenos prieigos, matyt, pilnai užpildytos, nes abu praėjimai prie Brandenburgo vartų jau uždaryti. Einame apie 1 km iki sekančio praėjimo, visą laiką pokšint fejerverkams. Matyt, Berlyne, Naujųjų Metų laikas suvokiamas savaip... Pora valandų ankščiau ar vėliau - koks skirtumas?
Prie praėjimo - didžiulė spūstis! Per garsiakalbį kelis kartus paprašoma praeiti iki sekančio įėjimo, kuris yra dar už 1 km ties Pergalės kolona. Bet tada reikės grįžti apie pora kilometrų iki pagrindinės scenos. Kai kas paklauso, bet didžioji dalis lieka spūstyje - o čia padėtis artėja prie kritinės ribos. Pasidaro gaila, kad neprisėdome kokioje nors Berlyno kavinėje, kur Naujuosius galima sutikti oriai su šampano taure. Galima gailėtis, kiek nori, bet kelio atgal nebėra!
Ateina tvarkdarys ir paprašo visų atsitraukti nuo praėjimo... Balsas tyruose! Pasikviečiamas pastiprinimas ir minia labai profesionaliai išsklaidoma. Pagaliau galima įkvėpti oro!
Maždaug po valandos ir šis praėjimas bus uždarytas.

Vakarėlio tinklapyje patariama ateiti į Naujųjų Metų sutiktuves iki 19 val., jei norima patekti be problemų. PATARIMAS, Į KURĮ VERTA ĮSIKLAUSYTI!
Vakarėlis truko nuo 14.00 iki 3 val. nakties. Patekti į jį buvo galima per 6 praėjimus, iš jų du buvo uždaryti jau 20 val., trečiasis (kurį praėjome) - apie 21.30, o likę trys - apie 23.30.

8.30 P.M. - 9.30P.M.
Finally, the entrance is behind us.
In front, there are check points where you can feel a good
mood and plenty of smiles. Is it, because of the constantly popping fireworks?
It reminds that the last hours of the year glide past...
So at first, the people are divided into two groups: with bags and without it. The bags and all the party guests need to be searched. The bags should be about the size as sheet of paper A4.
My bag is twice as the A4 but I don't have any problem. A yellow plastic stripe is fixed to it,
what means that all is checked!
It is prohibited to bring any kind of fireworks, pointed or sharp items, or any other items which could be used as weapons. This also applies to glass bottles, backpacks and other large bags - the list of the items is long...
It is prohibited to bring any kind of alkohol to the party mile too. If you try it you need to throw bottles and cans into oranges bins. There are no discussions! Finally, you can go free about 200 metres through the park to the party. This year, like never before, it was closed a fairly large territory around the area of the New Year's Eve Party...

20.30 -21.30 UHR
Endlich ist der Eingang hinter uns.
Vorne sind Kontrollpunkte, wo alles mit guter Stimmung
und viel Lächeln zugeht. Ist es vielleicht deshalb, weil die immer wieder knallenden Feuerwerke daran erinnern, dass es die letzten Stunden des Jahres vorbeigehen...
In drei Schritten gehen die Kontrolleure vor: Erst werden Personen mit und ohne Tasche getrennt. Ein paar Meter weiter werden, falls vorhanden, die Taschen durchsucht. Noch etwas weiter werden die Partygäste abgetastet. Nicht erlaubt sind Rücksäcke, große Taschen. Die Taschen sollten etwa so groß wie Papierblatt A4 sein. Meine Tasche ist zweimal so groß, aber ohne Probleme
festigt man einen gelben Plastikstreifen daran. Das bedeutet: durchgesucht! Weiter geht man zur Abtastung, aber es gilt nur für Männer...
Also, es gab keine Probleme, denn wir hatten auch keine Gegenstände, die nicht erlaubt sind. Ihre Liste ist eigentlich groß. Auch mitgebrachter Alkohol ist auf der Partymeile streng verboten. Wer es doch versucht, muss Flaschen und Dosen in die bereitstehenden orangen Tonnen werfen. Diskussionen gibt es darum aber nicht. Zum Schluss geht man etwa 200 m durch den Park bis zur Partymeile. Wie nie früher wurde dieses Jahr ein ziemlich großes Territorium um die Silvesterpartyzone geschlossen...

20.30 - 21.30 VAL.
Pagaliau - patikros zona! Viskas eina greit ir kažkaip naujametiškai. Jokių komandų,
daug šypsenų! Gal kad nuolat griaudžiantys fejeverkai primena: slenka paskutinės metų valandos...
Praėjusi grupė pasidalina į dvi dalis: su rankinėmis ir be jų. Negali būti jokių kuprinių, krepšių, o tikrinamos rankinės turi būti maždaug tokio dydžio kaip popieriaus lapas A4. Manoji - dvigubai didesnė, bet praleidžia be problemų, prisegdami geltoną juostelę. Tai reiškia, kad rankinė patikrinta! Po to einame ten, kur nuėjo tie, kurie neturėjo rankinių. Čia dar turi apčiupinėti, bet šita procedūra taikoma tik vyrams...
Praėjome patikrą be nuostolių, nes neturėjome jokių draudžiamų įsinešti daiktų, kurių sąrašas yra tikrai ilgas. Negalima įsinešti ir alkoholio. Kas bandė, turėjo butelius ir skardines sumesti į oranžinius konteinerius. Niekas ir nediskutavo - negalima, tai negalima! O dabar belieka paėjėti dar kokius 200 metrų per parką iki naujametinio vakarėlio teritorijos. Sako, šiemet, kaip niekad, buvo uždaryta labai didelė trajektorija aplink vakarėlio zoną...

Pagrindinė scena * The main stage of the Silvesterparty

9.30 P.M. - 10 P.M.
The New Year's Eve celebrations take place
on a two-kilometre long stretch of 'Straße des 17. Juni' between Brandenburg Gate
and the Victory Column. Yesterday, this street stretch was enclosed with a 13-kilometer-long double fence. The driveways were backed with bollards.
We reach the festival mile in the middle of it and turn to the main stage. We don't hear more thunders of fireworks that replaced music sounds. But you can't enjoy music because you are stopped and controlled at check points, located every 200 metres in the party mile too.
If you once visited the USA, where persons and their bags are checked very often, you don't have any psychological problem in the Silvesterparty. But the other free citizens from Lithuania don't feel very well now...
Finally, the main stage appears in front - it looks fantastic, really!
But the area of the stage is terrible crowded. Would you like to celebrate
the New year in this crowd? No!!! We decide to turn back untill it's possible
to turn back in the crowd...
P. S.
A TIP for the people who don't like to be checked. Imagine, that you take part
in the New year's carnival, called 'Safety first!' Or that there are not the check points but also flirt points. Please, smile and wink, and you are in New year's mood! Guaranteed!

21.30 - 22.00 UHR
Das Festgelände, noch Festmeile oder Silvestermeile
genannt, ist rund 2 Kilometer lang und geht vom Brandenburger Tor über die Straße des 17. Juni bis zur Siegessäule. Diese Strecke wurde schon am Vorabend geschlossen. Für die Sicherheit sorgen ein 13 Kilometer langer doppelter Zaun. Betonpoller versperren die Zufahrten.
Die Festmeile erreichen wir irgendwo in der Mitte und biegen zur Hauptbühne. Man hört keine Böller und Feuerwerke mehr, die durch sehnsüchtige Töne der Musik ersetzt werden.
Die Musikstimmung wird aber immer wieder gestört, denn auch auf der Festmeile findet man etwa je 200 m Sperren, wo immer wieder kontrolliert wird. Wer irgendwann die USA besucht hat, wo ausgiebige Taschen- und Personenkontrollen durchgeführt werden, der ist daran gewöhnt . Aber die anderen freien Bürger aus Litauen fühlen sich immer schlimmer...
Endlich erscheint vorne die Haupbühne - die sieht richtig fantastisch aus! Aber rund um die Bühne ist kaum noch ein Durchkommen möglich. Will man das Neujahr im großen Gedränge feiern? Nein!!! Wir überlegen uns umzukehren, solange man sich im Gedränge noch umdrehen kann...

Ein TIP für die, die die Kontrolle in der Silvesterparty ärgert. Stellt vor, dass ihr
am Neujahrskarneval, genannt "Sicherheit vor allem!", teilnehmt. Oder, dass es nicht die Kontroll-, sondern Flirtzonen sind. Bitte lächeln und zwinkern! So ist die Neujahrsstimmung garantiert!

21.30 - 22.00 VAL.
Šventės zona, dar vadinama šventės mylia arba naujametinė mylia, tai - maždaug 2 km gatvės atkarpa (Straße des 17. Juni) tarp Brandenburgo vartų ir Pergalės kolonos (Siegessäule). Jau prieš dieną šį gatvės dalis buvo uždaryta ir apjuosta dviguba 13 km ilgio tvora, o pravažiavimai užblokuoti betoniniais blokais.
Šventės mylią prieiname kažkur per vidurį ir pasukame link pagrindinės scenos. Nebesigirdi nei petardų, nei fejerverkų griausmo - jį pakeičia svajingos muzikos garsai. Bet nelabai gali įsijausti į muziką, nes net šventės zonoje kas keli šimtai metrų - barjerai ir patikra po patikros. Kas yra viešėjęs JAV, kur esi nuolat tikrinamas, tam ši naujametinė kontrolė nesukėlė jokio diskomforto. Tuo tarpu kitus laisvus piliečius iš Lietuvos toks tikrinimas vedė iš pusiausvyros ir gadino naujametinę nuotaiką...
Pagaliau priekyje - fantastiška pagrindinė scena! Bet šalia jos labai labai ankšta! Ar norisi spūstyje sutikti Naujus Metus? Ne!!! Svarstome sukti atgal, kol minioje dar įmanoma apsisukti...

10.00 P.M. - 10.30 P.M.
We turn back. It's clear that the others find it stressful
that some people can't decide where they would like to celebrate New year. But nobody fret and fume because there are not so many people moving against the tide.
On the right side, there's noticed a free place between a drink stand and a guard zone. About 500 persons maintain order in the Silvesterparty, and for them are erected special zones, surrounded with barriers. You can even sit down on the middle part of the barrier. It's great, because there are no seats in the New Year's Eve party! In addition to it, there you are not only in safety, but also you can quench your thirsty at the drink stand at any time. Now, we can celebrate the New Year - in the right place at the right time! And with the cosy temperature plus 12 at the Brandenburg Gate in the midnight! Party guests feel the weather very welcome, but not the hat sellers. But!!! Good sellers are flashing glasses, floral wreaths and crowns, decorated with 'Happy New Year!'
The Silvesterparty becomes the new year carnival...

22.00 - 22.30 UHR
Wir kehren um. Klar, dass die anderen finden es stressig,
wenn sich einige nicht für ihre Plätze entscheiden können. Aber man ärgert sich nicht zu Tode, denn es gibt nicht so viele, die sich ihren Weg gegen Strom der Menschenmenge bahnen.
An der rechten Seite fällt ein freier Platz zwischen der Zone der Ordner und dem Getränke-Stand auf. Für die Sicherheit sorgen rund 500 Ordner, für die Sonderzonen eingerichtet wurden, die durch Sperren von der Partymeile getrennt sind. An der mittleren Stange einer Sperre kann man sogar sitzen. Toll! Denn es gibt keine Sitzplätze in der Silvesterparty. Außerdem ist man hier in Sicherheit sowie vergeht man auch nicht vor Durst. Vorne befindet sich ein Getränke-Stand! Was trotzdem gut geht: blinkende Brillen, Blumenkränze und Kronen mit einem Wunsch dran: "Happy New Year!" Die Silvesterparty wird zum Neujahrskarneval...

Pasukame atgal. Žinoma, kitiems nėra malonūs tokie,
kaip mes, kurie blaškosi ir niekaip negali apsispręsti, kurioje vietoje sutikti Naujus Metus. Bet niekas nepyksta - gal, kad einančių prieš srovę nedaug. Dešiniajame krašte pastebime laisvą erdvę tarp tvarkdarių zonos ir gėrimų baro. Tvarka rūpinosi apie 500 tvarkdarių, kuriems buvo skirtos specialios zonos, aptvertos neaukštais barjerais. Ant barjero vidurinio strypo galima net prisėsti! Prabanga, nes sėdimų vietų vakarėlyje apskritai nėra! Be to, čia būsim ir saugūs, ir pagirdyti, nes iš kitos pusės - baras! Pagaliau pasiruošę pasitikti Naujus Metus tinkamu laiku ir mums tinkančioje vietoje! O Dievas dovanojo dar ir gerą orą, kurį vokiečiai pavadino "pliušiniu" - plius 12 vidurnaktį prie Brandenburgo vartų! Dėl to liūdi tik kepurių pardavėjai, bet labai džiaugiasi vakarėlio dalyviai ir kiti prekeiviai. Ypač gerai perkami blyksintys akiniai ir blyksinčios girliandos, virstančios naujametiniais papuošalais ant kaklo. Ypač žiūrisi karūnos su užrašu: "Happy New Year!" ("Laimingų Naujų Metų!"). Vakarėlis vis labiau ima panėšėti į linksmą karnavalą...

There, where the music stops, thunder the fireworks popping in Berlin as often as champagne corks today...
Actually, it's high time to pick champagne, because
in a short, the New year will be celebrated in Lithuania. At the drinks stand, all the drinks are poured into usual disposable glasses, while champagne - into graceful red goblets. It's fine, although it's used once too! You can see the inscription on the goblets 'Rotkäppchen ('Little Red Riding Hood'), since 1856'. It's the champagne, produced more than 150 years...
'Rotkäppchen' is right for you!',
it says a young man with the crown 'Happy New Year!' standing behind me.
Does he think, that all three glasses of champagne are for me alone? Very sad, but not! Or do I look like Little Red Riding Hood because of the flashing red hat on my head? This hat has always Santa Claus too...
Anyway, the champagne 'Rotkäppchen' is just right not only for Santa Claus and the Little Red Riding Hood, but also for all who celebrate a new year!

Endlich kann man ins Musikprogramm gucken,
um zu erfahren, mit welchen nationalen und internationalen Stars man ins Neue Jahr startet.
Unter anderen mit dabei sind

Macht nichts, dass von dieser langen Liste nur Conchita, Gewinner von Eurovision Song Contest 2014, bekannt ist. Man hat nun eine Chance, auch andere Stars kennenzulernen, die auf den großen Bildschirmen erscheinen, die sowohl an der Hauptbühne, als auch in der ganzen Partymeile eingerichtet sind. Die Tonqualität ist ja fantastisch, so kann man richtig entspannt Musikklängen zuhören, die über das Brandenburger Tor in den Himmel steigen und sich dort mit Funken von Feuerwerken vermischen. Klar, dass es dort, wo Musik aufhört, donnern die Feuerwerke, die heute in Berlin so oft wie Sektkorken knallen...
Eigentlich ist es die höchste Zeit, sich um Sekt zu kümmern, denn in Kürze wird das Neujahr in Litauen gefeiert. Am Getränke-Stand werden alle Getränke in übliche Einweggläser gefüllt, während Sekt - in graziöse rote Kelche. Das ist aber fein, obwohl auch einmalig benutzt! Auf den Kelchen sieht man die Aufschrift "Rotkäppchen, seit 1856". So heißt der Sekt, der schon mehr als 150 Jahre produziert wird...
"Es ist aber der richtige Sekt für dich!",
meint ein junger Mann hinter mir, auf dessen Kopf die Krone mit "Happy New Year!" funkelt.
Denkt er, dass alle drei Gläser Sekt für mich allein bestimmt sind? Leider, nein! Oder bin ich einem Rotkäppchen ähnlich? Denn auf meinem Kopf blinkt eine winzige rote Weihnachtsmütze, die üblich auch ein Weihnachtsmann trägt...
Auf jeden Fall ist der Sekt "Rotkäppchen" gerade richtig für den Weihnachtsmann, und für das Rotkäppchen, und für alle zum Neuen Jahr!

Of cause, you can hear popping fireworks too, because in Berlin,
they are popped since 5 p.m. Between sparkles, you can see Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory, at the top of the Brandenburg Gate. She stands in a chariot, drawn by four horses, that seem to be gasping for fresh air because of so many fireworks.
Victoria isn't easy to bring the horses under control, but in spite of all, she gives
the best New Year wishes to the Lithuanian Vytis (a riding knight and a victory symbol
in the State emblem of Lithuania). Vytis needs to bring under control only one horse, so he is rather easier! Anyway, may come true all the New Year dreams rising with the fireworks into the Lithuanian sky this night!
From Lithuania, we came to Berlin, and now we have one extra hour in 2017.
Well, let's enjoy it!

it ask a nice couple, who unexpectedly appears before our eyes and who drinks the same champagne 'Rotkäppchen' ('Little Red Riding Hood').
'Despite of the santa hat on my head, we are not from Finland, where Santa Claus lives. We are from Lithuania!'
'Oh, what a surprise!!! Į sveikatą! (Lithunian - 'Good health!')', and the nice couple from Berlin begins to speak Lithuanian...
'Do you speak Lithuanian? How is it possible?'
'In 1990, when Lithuania became independent, Lithuanian was in fashion...'
It was, because in that year, they travelled by bicycles around Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania,
where they has learned also Lithuanian. They visited the territory of Königsberg (Kaliningrad Oblast of Russian Federation) too. There was born the mother from one of them, who emigrated to Berlin in 1945 and never returned home... It was an adventure travel, continued about a month. The money ended, but they succeeded in finding a job in the ship that sailed from the Lithuanian port Klaipeda to Copenhagen. One of them helps in the kitchen, while the other one painted the hold of the ship. So, they made enough money and returned successfully from Copenhagen to Berlin.   'This was in our youth. Now, we choose comfortable journeys only!'
'Well, then let's drink to journeys! Cheers!'
'Cheers!'
Because the journeys can prolong your year by one hour or more.
And then, you can learn, that Lithuanian language can be in fashion! Will there be the other surprises still in this extra hour of our life?

Frohes Neues Jahr, Litauen!
Es knallen natürlich die Feuerwerke, denn sie knallen in Berlin schon sechs Stunden.
Die Rosse, die den Wagen mit der darin stehenden Siegesgöttin Victoria über das Dach vom Brandenburger Tor ziehen, scheinen keine Luft mehr wegen der funkelnden Feuerweken zu bekommen. Es geht Victoria nicht so leicht, die vier Rosse zu bändigen. Trotzdem richtet sie viele Neujahrsgrüße an den litauischen Vytis (einen reitenden Krieger, ein Siegessymbol im Staatswappen Litauens) aus. Vytis braucht nur einen Roß zu bändigen, so hat er es ziemlich leichter! So mögen alle Neujahrsträume in Erfüllung gehen, die nun in den litauischen Himmel mit den Feuerwerken steigen!
Nun ist es kurz nach elf in Deutschland. Wir haben unser Jahr 2017 um eine Stunde verlängert, indem wir aus Litauen nach Berin gekommen sind. Also, wollen wir auf die zusätzliche Stunde anstoßen!
"Kommt ihr aus Finnland?"
fragt ein sympathisches Paar, das unerwartet vor unseren Augen erscheint und das dieselben Kelche, gefüllt vom Sekt "Rotkäppchen", in der Hand hat.
"Trotz der Weihnachtsmütze auf meinem Kopf, kommen wir nicht aus Finnland, wo der Weihnachtsmann lebt. Wir sind aus Litauen!"
"O!!! Į sveikatą! (Litauisch "Zum Wohl!")",
und das fröhliche Paar aus Berlin beginnt auch andere litauischen Wörter auszusprechen.
"Sprecht ihr Litauisch? Wie ist denn das möglich?"
"Es war die Zeit, als Litauisch in Mode war. Das war 1990,
als Litauen unabhängig wurde..."
Diese Zeit bringt das Berliner Paar in Erinnerung, als es 1990 fast einen Monat mit Fahrrädern durch Estland, Lettland und Litauen gefahren sind, wo man auch Litauisch gelernt hat. Außerdem wurde das Gebiet Königsberg besucht, wo die Mutter eines von ihnen geboren, aber 1945 nach Berlin emigriert und nie menr in die Heimat zurückgekehrt ist. Sie fanden ihren Geburtsort, das Haus stand aber nicht mehr da... Dann ging das Reisegeld zu Ende, aber es ist gelungen ein Job im Schiff zu finden, das vom litauischen Hafen Klaipėda nach Kopenhagen fuhr. Die eine leistete Hilfe in der Küche, während der andere beschäftigte sich mit Malarbeiten. So verdiente man Geld und kehrte erfolgreich von Kopenhagen nach Berlin zurück...
"Das war in der Jugend. Nun reisen wir nur mit Komfort!"
"Na, dann auf die Reisen!"
"Auf die Reisen! Prosit!"
Denn die Reisen können ein Jahr verlängern - eine Stunde und mehr! Und dann erfährt man,
das Litauisch auch in Mode sein kann! Welche Überraschungen gibt es noch
in dieser zusätzlichen Stunde des Jahres?

Su Naujais Metais, Lietuva!
Žinoma, iššauna ir fejerverkai, nes jie Berlyne šaudo jau nuo 17.00 val. Atrodo, kad ant Brandenburgo vartų esantys keturi žirgai net muistosi nuo fejeverkų žiežirbų ir Pergalės deivei Viktorijai darosi vis sunkiau juos važnyčioti. Bet kuriuo atveju, Viktorija siunčiu linkėjimus lietuviškajam Vyčiui, kuriam gerokai lengviau - tereikia suvaldyti vieną žirgą. Taigi, te pildosi visos naujametinės svajonės, dabar kylančios į lietuvišką dangų kartu su fejerverkais!
O Vokietijoje iki Naujųjų Metų liko dar viena valanda, kuria prasiilginome savo metus atvykę iš Lietuvos į Berlyną! Taigi, už papildomą 2017 metų valandą!
- Ir pas mus tokios pat taurės ir toks pat šampanas "Rotkäppchen!" - užkalbina linksma porelė, kuri netikėtai atsiranda šalia mūsų. - Ar jūs iš Suomijos?
- Nepaisant kalėdinės kepuraitės ant mano galvos, mes - ne iš Kalėdų Senio gimtinės Suomijos! Mes - iš Lietuvos!
- O!!! Į sveikatą! - pakelia raudonkepuraičių taures linksmieji berlyniečiai ir pradeda berti lietuviškus žodžius...
- Kalbate lietuviškai? Kaip tai įmanoma?
- Buvo laikai, kai lietuvių kalba buvo madinga. Tai buvo 1990-ieji, kai Lietuva iškovojo nepriklausomybę...
Ir berlyniečių pora leidosi į prisiminimus, kai 1990 m. beveik mėnesį keliavo dviračiais po Latviją, Estiją ir Lietuvą, kur ir pramoko lietuviškai. Be to aplankė Kaliningrado sritį, kur gimė vieno jų mama, kuri 1945 m. emigravo į Berlyną ir niekada daugiau neapsilankė gimtinėje. Mamos namo nebėra, bet tą vietą jie surado... Kelionės metu baigėsi pinigai, tad Klaipėdoje įsiprašė padirbėti į laivą, plaukusi į Kopenhagą. Vienas plušėjo virtuvėje, kitas - dažė triumus. Taip užsidirbo pinigų ir sėkmingai iš Kopenhagos sugrįžo Berlyną.
- Tai buvo jaunystėje, dabar keliaujame tik su komfortu. Už keliones!
- Už keliones!
Nes jos gali prailginti metus - valanda ar net daugiau. O tada staiga sužinai, kad lietuvių kalba gali būti madinga! Kuo ši papildoma valanda dar nustebins?

The reality is easily forgotten because of the romantic music sounds
and sparkling champagne. But current activities in the guard zone nearby reminds of it again. All time, only one young man keeps watch there. If any problems arise, the guards gather together to solve it in the guard zone, and then they go away again. But the last hour of the year becomes very busy for the persons maintaining order in the Silvesterparty. First, a group of young people asks for help, because one of them fell down in a faint. Then, the guards have a problem with a young couple, guided into their zone. In the last minutes of the year, the young people became so angry with each other, that they assault the guards, who want to reconcile them. The guards have no other choice but to carry the aggressive people from the zone. The man doesn't protest, while his girl-friend fret and fume, and fight against it. But she is taken away from the Silvesterparty like an old year, that must be taken away, regardless of the year wants it or not. Finally, the life dramas end and the guards go away. Only the same young man keeps watch again...
It starts a song 'This Is Me'. Actually, who is it? Conchita, the winner of Eurovision Song Contest 2014! And what about you? You are again in the New Year mood, filled with cozy weather, champagne and lasers flashing over the dancing party guests... This is our extra hour of the year 2017, that we shouldn't have in Lithuania! So to speak, it's our unreal reality - let's have a surprise!

23.20 - 23.40 UHR
Bei den Musikklängen und mit schäumendem Sekt in der Hand vergisst man
schnell die Realität, an die der Lärm in der Zone der Ordner wieder erinnert.
Meistens hält da ein junger Mann Wache. Wenn es Probleme entstehen, laufen die Ordner zusammen, um sich zu beraten, und gehen wieder auseinander. Zum Schluss des Jahres herrscht in der Zone richtig viel Betrieb. Zuerst bittet eine junge Gesellschaft um die Hilfe, denn einer von ihnen wurde ohnmachtlos: man holt einen Arzt. Kurz darauf wird ein junges Paar in die Zone geführt, das sich in den letzten Minuten des Jahres zu Tode gezankt hat. Es greift auch die Ordner an, die das Paar versöhnen wollten. Es bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als die jungen Leute wegzubringen. Der Mann hat nichts dagegen, während sich seine Freundin mit Händen und Füßen dagegen wehrt. Sie wird weggebracht, wie ein altes Jahr, das weggebracht werden muss, ungeachtet ob es sich wehrt oder nicht, ob es will oder nicht... Endlich sind alle Lebensdramen zu Ende und die Ordner gehen auseinander. Derselbe junge Mann hält Wache in der Zone wieder allein...
Es beginnt das Lied "This is Me" - "Da bin ich" zu klingen.
Wer ist denn da? Conchita, Gewinner von Eurovision Song Contest 2014! Mit dem Lied gibt man sich wieder der Silvesterstimmung hin, umgeben von kuscheligem Wetter, Sektschäumen und Lasern, die über tanzende Partygäste blinken... Das ist die zusätzliche Stunde des Jahres 2017, die wir in Litauen nicht gehabt hätten! Sozusagen, es ist eine reale Unrealität, in der wir uns gerne weiter überraschen lassen!

23.20 - 23.40 VAL.
Muzikos garsai ir raudonkepuraičių šampano purslai atitolino nuo realybės,
į kurią sugrąžina šurmulys tvarkdarių zonoje. Čia beveik visą laiką budėjo vienas simpatiškas vaikinukas. Kai kildavo problemos, tvarkdariai subėgdavo į zoną, pasitardavo ir vėl išsiskirstydavo. Besibaigiant metams tvarkdarių zonoje kilo sujudimas. Pagalbos paprašo draugų kompanija - vienas jų susmuko ant žemės be gyvybės ženklų: iškviečiami medikai. Neužilgo į tvarkdarių zoną atvedama porelė, kuri baigiantis metams mirtinai susipyko. Jie kibo į atlapus ir tvarkdariams, kurie bandė juos sutaikyti. Nieko kito nebeliko, kaip porelę išnešti už vakarėlio zonos ribų. Jaunikaitis nesipriešino, tuo tarpu jo draugė rėkė ir rangėsi kaip senieji metai, kuriuos tenka išnešti ir besispardančius, jei jie nenori išeiti. Pagaliau gyvenimo dramos nurimsta ir tvarkdariai išsiskirsto - zonoje vėl liko tik vienas vaikinukas...
Suskamba daina "This is Me" - "Štai ir aš". Kas gi čia toks? Ogi Conchita, 2014 m. Eurovizijos nugalėtojas, kuris vėl gražina į naujametinę realybę, apgaubtą "pliušinio" oro, šampano purslų ir lazerių, tvyksinčių virš šokančios publikos... Mums tai - papildoma 2017-ųjų metų valanda, reali nerealybė, nes jos Lietuvoje neturėtume! Ar bus dar kokių siurprizų?

If you want to look at this New Year's spectacle from above, you can enjoy it from a Ferris wheel. Actually, many party guests choose this pleasure. So, the Ferris wheel rotates without stopping, while the wheel of the year draws to a close. The public stops dancing. Thousands of people raise their hands to the sky - no, not for a New Year's prayer, but for selfies in the background of the fireworks over the Brandenburg Gate.

Über den Kopf "sausen" nicht nur Laser, sondern auch Fernsehkameras.
Wäre es möglich anders? Das ZDF ist ab 20.15 Uhr live mit bei der größten Silvesterparty Europas, und das Erste schaltet sich beim Feuerwerk auch ein. Die wichtigsten Fernsehsender Deutschlands sind da, am Brandenburger Tor, wo das Neue Jahr in Deutschland startet. Eben da sieht man eines der eindrucksvollsten Feuerwerke Europa's.
Wer dieses Silvester-Spektakel von oben betrachten will, kann es beim großen Riesenrad finden. Richtig viele wählen dieses Vergnügen, denn das Riesenrad dreht sich ohne zu stoppen, während sich das Rad des Jahres dem Ende zuneigt. Das Publikum hört mit dem Tanzen auf. Regardless of where you celebrate the Silvesterparty - at the Brandenburg Gate or at the Victory Column 2 km away - you think, even you are in the center of this sparkling sea of fireworks! Aber es war ein stimmungsvoller Einstieg ins Neue Jahr, wenn ein richtiges Lichtermeer am Himmel erscheint. Dabei gewinnt man den Eindruck, im Zentrum dieses funkelnden Meeres zu stehen, egal ob man die Silvesterparty am Brandenburger Tor oder an der Siegessäule, 2 km davon entfernt, feiert.
Zum Jahreswechsel tritt Wincent Weiss mit seinem Song "Feuerwerk" auf:

Suddenly, the guard, who all the time has kept watch nearby, removes all the barriers.
He makes a free way: Anyone, who wants, can go! Does it mean, that we will have free ways all new year round?
You may leave the party, but you can't return. All entrances were closed around 11.30 pm, and never will be opened. The police closed the S-Train Station next to the Brandenburg Gate for security reasons too. We take the first opportunity of the freedom and go to the exit leading to the Reichstag, although the Silvesterparty will continue until 3:00 in the morning. All the squares and streets are full of people. At the Reichstag (building of German "Federal Assembly"), the huge Christmas tree blinks modestly, while the sky over Berlin continue to glitter because of private fireworks popping incessantly.
So, 'let's live like fireworks, maybe, for a moment, that never comes back..."

Das Konzert ist zu Ende, und in der Silvesterparty beginnt eine Diskothek.
Der sympathische Ordner bringt unerwartet alle Barrieren weg und macht den Ausgang frei.
Wer will, kann gehen! Man darf die Party verlassen, aber niemand wird hereingelassen. Alle Zugänge waren um etwa 23:30 geschlossen und werden nie mehr geöffnet. Aus Sicherheitsgründen sperrt die Polizei auch den S-Bahnhof am Brandenburger Tor.
Was aber symbolisiert diese unerwartete Freiheit? Werden sich alle Wege für uns im Jahre 2018
so leicht öffnen? Wir ergreifen die erste Gelegenheit und begeben uns zum Ausgang, der zum Reichstag führt, obwohl die Silvesterparty noch bis 3.00 Uhr nachts dauert. Alle Plätze und Straßen sind voll von Menschen. Der riesige Christbaum am Reichstag blinkt ziemlich bescheiden, während der Himmel über Berlin weiter funkelt - private Feuerwerke knallen unaufhörlich...
Also, "lass uns leben wie ein Feuerwerk, als wenn es nur für den heutigen Tag wäre, der nie zurückkommt..."

Išlaki eglė prie Reichstago (Vokietijos parlamento aukštųjų rūmų) žybsi kukliai, tuo tarpu Berlyno dangus ir toliau tebesimaudo fejerverkuose, nors ir mėgėjiškuose. Gatvės ir aikštės pilnos žmonių. Taigi, būkim fejeverkais, nors vieną dieną, nors akimirką, kuri galbūt daugiau ir nebesikartos... Taikiai žybsintis Berlynas!

It cames as a surprise for the police that New Year's Eve
was celebrated quite peacefully in Berlin. It was peacefully in the Silvesterparty at the Brandenburg Gate too, where about 700 000 people have gathered!
But the fire brigade was very busy because it was registered 465 incidents until midnight. There were 108 fires in Berlin, and the fire broke out even in the city center too. So, let us live like fireworks, but attention, please! A firework is a fire too...

The New Year's Eve celebration takes place on a two-kilometre long stretch
of 'Straße des 17. Juni' between Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column.
Around 500 guards and a 13-kilometer-long double fence ensure the security of the Silvesterparty. On the New Year's Eve, there were around 140 doctors and helpers of the German Red Cross, as well as 1412 firefighters (more than twice as many as usually) on duty in Berlin. The police was with 1600 additional forces on duty too. On the 1st January, around 600 employees were prepared to clean Berlin. Is it too much or too little for the city with 3.5 million inhabitants and one million guests, visited it on the New Year's Eve?

Die Polizei war erstaunt, dass Silvester in Berlin ziemlich friedlich gefeiert wurde.
Bis zum späten Abend war nach Polizeiangaben alles friedlich auch auf dem Festgelände am Brandenburger Tor, wo sich etwa 700 000 Menschen versammelt haben! Aber viel zu tun hatte die Feuerwehr, die 465 Einsätze seit 19 Uhr bis Mitternacht registriert hat. Davon waren 108 Brandmeldungen, und ein Brand brach sogar in der Stadtmitte von Berlin aus. Also, lass uns leben wie ein Feuerwerk, aber Vorsicht! Ein Feuerwerk ist ja auch ein Feuer!

Die 2 km lange Festmeile geht vom Brandenburger Tor über die Straße des 17. Juni bis zur Siegessäule. Rund 500 Ordner und ein 13 Kilometer langer doppelter Zaun sorgen für die Sicherheit. Betonpoller versperren die Zufahrten. Rund 140 Ärzte und Helfer des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes leisten Sanitätsdienst an Unfallhilfsstellen. Die Polizei ist in Berlin mit 1600 zusätzlichen Kräften im Dienst. In der Leitstelle besetzen 63 Beamte den Notruf. 1412 Feuerwehrleute - mehr als doppelt so viele wie normal - sind im Dienst, davon 806 Berufsfeuerwehrleute, 489 Freiwillige und mehr als hundert Mitarbeiter der Hilfsdienste. Insgesamt sind 432 Einsatzfahrzeuge unterwegs. Für den Neujahrsputz am 1. Januar stehen bei der Berliner Stadtreinigung rund 600 Beschäftigte und 150 Fahrzeuge bereit. Ist es viel oder wenig für eine Stadt mit 3,5 Millionen Einwohnern und einer Million Gäste, die zum Silvester gekommen sind?

Naujametinis vakarėlis vyko 2 km ilgio atkarpoje - nuo Brandenburgo vartų
iki Pergalės kolonos (dalis gatvės, kuri vadinasi Straße des 17. Juni). Teritorija buvo apsupta dviguba tvora, kurios bendras ilgis - 13 km. Vakarėlio saugumu rūpinosi apie 500 tvarkdarių. Berlyne naujametinę naktį budėjo apie 140 gydytojų ir Raudonojo Kryžiaus savanorių. Policija buvo pasitelkusi papildomai 1600 policininkų, o pagalbos skambučius priiminėjo 63 darbuotojai. Budėjo 432 gaisrinės mašinos ir 1412 gaisrininkų - dvigubai daugiau nei paprastai. Tarp jų - apie 500 savanorių. Sausio 1 d. miestui sutvarkyti pasitelkta 600 darbuotojų bei 150 transporta priemonių šiukšlėms išvežti. Nežinau, ar tai daug ar mažai pajėgų sutvarkyti 3,5 milijono miestą, į kurį atklydo dar milijonas turistų...

"AFTER PARTY" MIT WEIHNACHTSERINNERUNGEN
Eine gute Party hat oft eine Fortsetzung, auf Englisch "After Party" genannt.
Nach der Silvesterparty am Brandenburger gab es natürlich auch "After Party", aber darüber könnte das Rotkäppchen mehr erzählen...
Anstatt dessen wollen wir uns lieber die Bilder der deutschen Weihnachtsmärkte anschauen!
Die können auch so farbenfroh sein wie die Neujahrsfeuerwerke! In der Vorweihnachtszeit eilt man zu den Weihnachtsmärkten, um Weihnachtsstimmung zu schöpfen, Glühwein zu probieren und sich für die wichtigsten Jahresfeste einzukaufen. Nach den Weihnachten funktionieren nicht mehr viele Weihnachtsmärkte, doch die Riesenräder und Weihnachtspyramyden drehen sich in vollem Gang. Wenn sich das Rad des Jahres dem Ende zuneigt,
ist es ratsam, sich im Kreise mehr als genug zu drehen - senkrecht und waagerecht. Auf den deutschen Weihnachtsmärkten wählen viele dieses Vergnügen beim Riesenrad oder auf der Eisbahn, wo man sich trainieren kann, ins Neue Jahr so erfolgreich zu rutschen, wie man es im deutschen Neujahrsgruss wünscht ("Guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr!").
Hoch oben ziehen die Figuren der Weihnachtspyramiden unermüdlich ihre Runden. Es ist ein Vergnügen, auch selbst eine Runde um die Weihnachtspyramyde zu machen oder reinzugucken, je nachdem, dass es in Litauen nicht gibt. Man behauptet, dass die Tradition eines geschmückten Christbaumes stammt eben aus einer Weihnachtspyramyde und einem grünenden Baum (Paradiesbaum).
Die größte Weihnachtspyramyde Deutschlands steht gewöhnlich in Berlin, der durch diese Weihnachtstradition berühmt ist. Einige eindruckvollen Weihnachtpyramyden wurden dieses Jahr auch in Karlsruhe entdeckt, in einer Stadt, wo man viele Märchen zur Weihnachtszeit erzählt.
Auf den Weihnachtsmärkten von Frankfurt am Main fliegt man mit den Weingeistern so hoch, dass solche Höhe mit keiner Pyramyde und keinem Riesenrad zu erreichen ist... Vielleicht deshalb wurden dort auch keine Räder entdeckt?

Sakoma, jei vakarėlis būna geras, tai po jo būna dar ir baigiamasis vakarėlio akordas,
angliškai vadinamas "After party" ("Po vakarėlio"). Be abejo, jis buvo, bet apie tai tepasakoja Raudonkepuraitė...
Geriau žvilgtelėkime į vokiškų kalėdinių mugių vaizdus, kurie ne mažiau spalvingi negu naujametiniai fejerverkai. Iki Kalėdų į muges einama pasisemti Kalėdų dvasios, pagurkšnoti karšto vyno bei apsipirkti svarbiausioms metų šventėms.
Po Kalėdų sumažėja ir mugių skaičius, ir jų apimtys. Tačiau jose pilnu tempu tebesisuka apžvalgos ratai ir kalėdinės piramidės - tai tarsi simbolizuoja metų ratą, artėjantį prie pabaigos. Todėl svarbu prisisukti ratuose - vertikaliai ir horizontaliai. Galima sukti ratus ir ant pačiūžų čiuožyklose - tada tikrai išsipildys vokiškas palinkėjimas "Guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr!" ("Gerai įčiuožti į Naujus Metus!").
Kadangi Lietuvoje kalėdinių piramidžių nėra, tai smalsu stebėti, kaip jų viršūnėje esančios figūros nepavargdamos keliauja ratu. Reikėtų bent kartą apsukti ratą aplink jas ir net žvilgtelėti vidun - o ten dažnai būna įrengtas karšto vyno baras! Sakoma, kad Kalėdų eglės tradicija ir kilo susijungus dekoruotos piramidės ir žaliuojančios eglės tradicijoms.
Aukščiausios Vokietijos kalėdinės piramidės paprastai statomos Berlyne, kuris visada garsèjo šia tradicija. Įspūdingą Kalėdų piramidę teko aptikti ir Karlsruhe - mieste, kur Kalėdų mugėse sekamos pasakos. Tuo tarpu Frankfurto prie Maino mugėse su vyno dvasiomis nulekiama į tokias aukštumas, kokių jokia Kalėdų piramidė ar apžvalgos ratas nepasieks.
Galbūt todėl ten jokių ratų ir neaptikta?

In December 2017, there were approximately 50 Christmas markets in Berlin.
Each market could offer something in particular. Only the Alexander Square (Alexanderplatz)
with TV tower in the middle turns into a magical Christmas market with the largest Christmas pyramid in Germany. Only at the Christmas Market of the Potsdamer Platz (Potsdam Square), there was a toboggan run. If you wanted to see Christmas performances you needed to visit the square, called Gendarmenmarkt. After you had tried the whole offer (Ferris wheel, ice rink, mulled wine) at the Christmas Market next to the Medieval Marienkirche (St. Mary’s Church), you could visit the church itself (built 1292, rebuilt in the 17th cent.), and listen to the Christmas concerts.
One of the few modern Christmas trees sparkled at the Christmas market in the Friedrichstrasse. There you could visit a memorial honoring the 12 people, killed in the terrorist attack last year. Probably the smallest Christmas market was organized in the oldest part of the city - Nikolaiviertel. Next to the Nikolai's Church (1230-50), there takes place a traditional winter film festival under the open sky. The focus of the festival was the cult film 'The Feuerzangenbowle' (1944).
The film tell the story of four friends that tasted the Feuerzangenbowle,
traditional German mulled wine, and shared nostalgic recollections of their school days. The friends tell one of them - Johannes Pfeiffer - that he missed out on the best part of growing up by being educated at home. After that, Pfeiffer decides to go under cover as a gymnasium student in the fictional small town Babenberg. He quickly gets into the habit of playing elaborate practical jokes on his teachers. At the end of the film, you see Pfeiffer as an adult again. He explains that all the school stories are actually invented, and only the Feuerzangenbowle, it's reality...
This reality existed at the Christmas market too, because you could enjoy the Feuerzangenbowle from special cups, decorated with the image of Heinz Rühmann (1902-94), who played the main hero of the movie.
The drink Feuerzangenbowle and recollections are just right not only at Christmas time,

BERLIN: WEIHNACHTSMÄRKTE, RÄDER UND PYRAMYDEN
Im Dezember 2017 gab es etwa 50 Weihnachtsmärkte in Berlin,
und jeder Markt konnte etwas Besonderes anbieten. Der beliebteste Dating-Treffpunkt der Stadt ist der Alexanderplatz mit dem Fernsehturm in der Mitte. Eben hier hielt Europas größte Erzgebirgspyramide im Rahmen des Weihnachtsmarktes Einzug.
Nur auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt vom Potsdamer Platz gab es eine Rodelbahn. Weihnachtliche Vorstellungen waren nur auf dem Gendarmenmarkt zu sehen. Nachdem man das ganze Weihnachtsangebot (vom Riesenrad, Eisbahn bis Glühwein) auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt an der Marienkirche ausprobiert hatte, konnte man die mittelalterliche Kirche selbt (gebaut 1292, umgebaut im 17. Jh) besuchen. Dort fanden Weihnachtskonzerte statt.
Einer der wenigen modernen Christbäume funkelte auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt in der Friedrichstraße, wo voriges Jahr während eines Terroranschlages 12 Menschen ums Leben gekommen sind.
Wohl der kleinste Weihnachtsmarkt funktionierte im ältesten Teil der Stadt -
im Nikolaiviertel an der Nikolaikirche (1230-50), wo traditionell ein amüsantes Winter-Filmfest unter freiem Himmel erwartet. Im Mittelpunkt stand dabei der Film-Klassiker
"Die Feuerzangenbowle" (1944). Die Rahmenhandlung des Films beginnt mit einer Runde vier älterer Herren, die sich bei einer Feuerzangenbowle Geschichten aus ihrer Schulzeit erzählt. Einer von ihnen - namens Johannes Pfeiffer - beneidet seine Freunde um den Spaß, den sie in ihrer Schulzeit hatten, denn er wurde von einem Hauslehrer erzogen. Seine Freunde animieren ihn daraufhin, als Oberschüler verkleidet für ein paar Wochen eine richtige Schule zu besuchen...
Am Ende des Films erklärt Pfeiffer, wieder als Erwachsener, all das soeben Erzählte sei eigentlich erfunden. Nur die Szenerie mit der Feuerzangenbowle sei Wirklichkeit.
Die Feuerzangenbowle war Wirklichkeit auch auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt, denn man konnte es probieren, und zwar aus Sondertassen, dekoriert mit dem Bild von Heinz Rühmann (1902-1994), der den Haupthelden des Films gespielt hatte.
Die Feuerzangenbowle sowie Erinnerungen sind gerade richtig nicht nur zur Weihnachtszeit, sondern auch am Silvestertag in Berlin. Ein richtig guter Einstieg ins Neue Jahr ist der Besuch der Weihnachtsmärkte, die zwar in Berlin nach Heiligabend kleiner geworden sind. Aber da drehten sich immer noch Riesenräder und Weihnachtspyramyden in vollem Gang. Nur muss man nicht zu viel genießen, sonst verspätet man sich zur Silvesterparty am Brandenburger Tor!*

BERLYNAS: KALĖDŲ MUGÈS, PIRAMIDĖS IR RATAI
2017 m. gruodį Berlyne šurmuliavo apie 50 Kalėdų mugių.
Kiekviena turėjo tik tai vietai būdingą atrakciją, ar tai būtų tradicinė, ar teminė mugė. Populiariausia pasimatymų vieta mieste yra Aleksandro aikštė su savo epicentru -Televizijos bokštu, su kuriuo nelabai gali konkuruoti šalia esančioje Kalėdų mugėje įrengta Kalėdų piramidė. Bet ji - aukščiausia Vokietijoje!
Tik Kalėdų mugėje, šurmulioujančioje Potsdamo aikštėje, buvo rogių kelias ir tik Gendarmenmarkt'o aikštės mugėje vyko kalėdiniai performansai. Didžiulėje mugėje prie Marienkirche - išmėginus visą kalėdinį arsenalą (nuo apžvalgos rato, čiuožyklos iki karšto vyno taurės) - buvo galima užeiti ir į šią viduramžių bažnyčią (1292 m., perstatyta 17 a. po gaisro), kur vyko kalėdiniai koncertai. Viena iš nedaugelio modernių eglučių tyliai mirgėjo Kalėdų mugėje, įrengtoje Friedrich'o gatvėje (Friedrichstraße), kur pernai teroristinio akto metu žuvo žmonės.
Pati mažiausia kalėdinė mugė vyko seniausioje miesto dalyje - Nikolaiviertel, prie Nikolaikirche (1230-50), kur tradiciškai organizuojama kino šventė po atviru dangumi.
Šventės ašis buvo filmo klasika - "Die Feuerzangenbowle" (1944), kur prie taurės karšto vyno (vadinamo "Feuerzangenbowle") susirinkusi kompanija pradeda dalintis linksmais prisiminimais apie mokyklą. Vienas jų labai pavydi šitų prisiminimų, nes mokytojai ateidavo jo mokyti į namus. Draugai įkalba jį apsimesti gimnazistu ir pasimokyti pora savaičių kokios nors gimnazijos baigiamojoje klasėje...
Prisiminimų filmai visada puikiai tinka Kalėdų laikotarpiui, kaip ir "Feuerzangenbowle",
kurį galėjai gurkšnoti taip, kaip filme. Ant specialiai pagaminto vyno puoduko puikavosi garsiojo Heinzo Rühmanno (1902-1994), vaidinusio pagrindinį filmo herojų, atvaizdas...
Berlyno mugių apimtys gerokai sumažėjo po Kūčių, bet pilnu tempu sukosi ir apžvalgos ratai, ir Kalėdų piramidės. Ir tai gali būti puikus įžanginis akordas Naujųjų Metų sutiktuvėms. Tik per daug neužsimirškite, nes pavėluosite į naujametinį vakarėlį prie Brandenburgo vartų!*

KARLSRUHE: FLYING SANTA CLAUS AND FAIRY TALES
The most German cities turned into magical Christmas world at the end of November.
The same was with Karlsruhe, a city with about 500 000 inhabitants, located 500 km to the South of Berlin. The ice skating rink at the Schlossplatz around the Memorial of the Grand Duke Karl Friedrich invited guests to skate. Next to it, you could visit the exhibition 'Metamorphoses' of the famous French painter Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) - it was a really Christmas surprise!
The Christmas market at the Friedrichsplatz entices visitors with its 'Forest Christmas' and
the Christmas pyramid of the mulled wine in the middle, while at the Christmas market of the Marktplatz (Market Square), you could enjoy the small 'Light Christmas' with the Light pyramid. The children had a lot of fun in the kid's land next to the St. Stephan's Church, where you could listen to the fairy tales and discover its figures, sometimes alive...
Twice a day, the flying Santa Claus visited the Friedrichplatz and told a story.
Then, Santa and the reindeer arose with the popping fireworks into the sky - until the next day!
And until the next story about people and events, but not about Santa himself, although there are many such stories...
Once, Santa Claus decided to ask for help not elfs, but the Little Red Riding Hood. Santa Claus with the red hat and and the girl with the red cap traveled in a sleigh, pulled by a reindeer, over snow-covered woods and noticed a huge wolf, fallen into a trap. The Little Red Riding Hood remembered the incident, when she was eaten up by a wolf and rescued by a hunter from wolf's belly... But the wolf howled so loud that the heart of Santa, as well as it of the Little Red Riding Hood grew heavy. They landed down and rescued the wolf. But the wolf was so hungry that it swallowed the Little Red Riding Hood, Santa Claus and the reindeer. There were left only the red hats. Decorated with it the wolf and its bitch started to rage in the area. The people thought that the Santa Claus came with gifts. They opened the door, and got into the mouth of the wolf.
The wolf couple raged so long, until they were shot by hunters...

But the end of the fairy tale can be happy too, isn't? Let's look!
The rescued wolf was so happy that it invited a flock of wolves. They were hitched up instead of the reindeer, that could rest.
The wolves flew with Santa Claus and the Little Red Riding Hood around the world so long, until all the Christmas gifts were delivered . The wolves forgave the people, who set a trap...

Usually, New Year will send the fairy tale, in which you believe,
when you rise a glass of champagne, maybe one of 'Rotkäppchen'
('Little Red Riding Hood'), to New Year...

Wie die meisten deutschen Städte, wurde auch Karlsruhe (etwa 500 000 Einwohner,
zirka 500 km südlich von Berlin entfern) schon Ende November zur Weihnachtsstadt erklärt.
Rund um das Denkmal von Großherzog Karl-Friedrich auf dem Schlossplatz entstand die Eisbahn. In der Nähe wartete eine Weihnachtsüberraschung für Kunstliebhaber, denn in der Kunsthalle fand die Ausstellung "Metamorphosen" des berühmten französischen Malers Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) statt. Die Adventszeit versüßten die "urige" Waldweihnacht" mit der Glühweinpyramyde auf dem Friedrichsplatz und die kleine "Lichtweihnacht" mit der Lichtpyramyde auf dem Marktpkatz.
Die kleinen Karlsruher hatten viel Spaß im Kinderrland an der St. Stephan-Kirche, wo ein Märchenbaum stand und wo man viele Märchenfiguren sehen und manche sogar lebendig treffen konnte.
Zwei Mal am Tag machte sich Hochseilartist Heiko Graber
als "fliegender Weihnachtsmann" auf den Weg über den Friedrichsplatz jeweils um 17 Uhr
und um 19 Uhr. Zuerst funkelte der Rentierschlitten und hallte tiefes "Ho - ho -ho!" Nachdem der Weihnachtsmann eine Geschichte erzählt hatte, flog er über den Platz, und stieg dann mit den knallenden Feuerwerken in den Himmel - bis zum nächsten Tag! Und bis zur nächsten Geschichte von anderen Personen und Ereignissen, obwohl es genug Geschichten auch vom Weihnachtsmann selbst gibt...
Einmal entschloss sich der Weihnachtsmann nicht die Elfen, sondern das Rotkäppchen um die Hilfe zu bitten.
Der Weihnachtsmann mit der roten Mütze und das Mädchen mit der roten Kappe flogen auf einem Rentierschlitten über verchneite Wälder und bemerkten plötzlich einen riesigen Wolf, gefangen in der Falle. Das Rotkäppchen erinnerte sich an den Vorfall, als es von einem Wolf gefressen und dann von einem Jäger aus dem Bauch des Wolfes befreit wurde... Der Wolf heulte aber so laut, dass beide brachten es nicht über das Herz, ihn in Unglück zu lassen. Sie landeten runter und befreiten den Wolf, der aber so hungrig war, dass er das Rotkäppchen, den Weihnachtsmann und sogar seine Rentiere gefressen hat. Die roten Mützen behielt er für sich und seine Wölfin. In Rot geschmückt, begann das Wolfspärchen in der Umgebung zu toben. Die Menschen dachten, dass der Weihnachtsmann mit den Geschenken gekommen war, und öffneten die Tür, und gerieten direkt in den Rachen der Wölfe.
Die Wölfe tobten so lange, bis sie von Jägern geschossen wurden...

Das Ende des Märchens kann auch glücklich sein, und zwar:
Der befreite Wolf war so dankbar, dass er einen Scharen von Wölfen mitbrachte. Anstatt der Rentiere,
die sich ausruhen konnten, wurden die Wölfe angespannt. Die flogen mit dem Weihnachtsmann und dem Rotkäppchen so lange durch die Welt, bis alle Weihnachtsgeschenke verteilt wurden. Die Wölfe verzeihten den Menschen,
die die Falle für sie gestellt hatten...

Das Neujahr bringt gewöhnlich das Märchen, an das man glaubt, wenn man
ein Glas Sekt ("Rotkäppchen"?) dazu trinkt!

Kaip daugelis Vokietijos miestų, taip ir Karlsruhe (apie 500 000 gyv.),
esanti apie 500 km į pietus nuo Berlyno, jau lapkričio pabaigoje pavirto kalėdiniu miestu.
Rūmų aikštėje, aplink Didžiojo hercogo Karlo - Friedrich'o paminklą, buvo išlieta čiuožykla. Kalėdinis siurprizas buvo paruoštas ir meno gurmanams - netoliese esančiuose Parodų rūmuose (Kunsthalle) vyko garsaus prancūzų dailininko Paul'o Cézanne (1839-1906) paroda "Metamorfozės". Friedrich'o aikštėje (Friedrichsplatz) aplink karšto vyno piramidę buvo įsikūrusi mugė "Miško Kalėdos", Turgaus aikštėje (Marktpkatz) - mažoji mugė "Šviesos Kalėdos",
o prie Šv. Stepono bažnyčios - "Vaikų Kalėdos", kur skambėjo pasakos ir kur buvo galima sutikti ir butaforinius, ir gyvus pasakų personažus.
Dukart per dieną - 17 ir 19 val. - virš Friedricho aikštės praskrisdavo Kalėdų senis. Iš pradžių žybtelėavo jo rogės, traukiamos elnių, tada pasigirsdavo duslus "Ho - ho -ho!" ir Kalėda imdavo pasakoti kokią nors istoriją. Po to jis praskrisdavo virš mugės ir pakildavo į dangų kartu su fejerverkais - iki kitos dienos! Ir iki kitos istorijos, žinoma apie kitus, nors yra nemažai pasakojimų ir apie patį Kalėdų Senį...
Pasakojama, kad kartą Kalėdų Senis arba Kalėda (lietuviškai), nutarė pasikviesti į pagalbą ne elfus, o mergaitę,
kuri, kaip ir jis, mėgo raudoną kepuraitę ir kurią buvo prarijęs vilkas. Skrido šie raudonkepuraičiai elnių rogėmis virš apsnigtų laukų ir pamatė didžiulį vilką, įkliuvusi į žmogaus paspęstus spąstus. Vilkas taip staugė, kad pasibaidė Kalėdos elniai. Suskaudo širdį ir Raudonkepuraitei, ir Kalėdai, tad jie nusileido žemyn ir išlaisvino vilką. Bet vilkas buvo toks alkanas, kad suvalgė ir Raudonkepuraitę, ir Kalėdą, ir elnius. Pasiliko tik raudonas kepuraites, kurias užsidėję vilkas ir jo vilkė ėmė plėšikauti apylinkėse. Žmonės atidarydavo duris, pagalvoję, kad atvyko Kalėda su dovanomis, ir patekdavo tiesiai į vilkų nasrus.
Raudonkepuriai vilkai tol siautė, kol juos nušovė medžiotojai...

Bet pabaiga gali būti ir laiminga, ar ne?
Išlaisvintas vilkas atsivedė pulką kitų vilkų ir leido pailsėti elniams. Vilkai vežiojo Kalėdą ir Raudonkepuraitę po visą pasaulį,
kol pastarieji išdalino dovanas žmonėms, kuriems vilkai atleido, nors buvo patekę į jų paspęstus spąstus...

Taigi, tegul Naujieji metai atneša tokią pasaką, kokia tikite ir pasitikite
keldami taurę paprasto ar raudonkepuraičių šampano!

FRANKFURT/MAIN: THE RÖMERBERG AND WINE
As soon as you left the main train station, you could feel the Christmas spirit.
It accompanied you strolling around the main streets and squares in the city center, as well as
in the old town. It was Friday afternoon. The sun, cozy weather, as well as the scents of cinnamon, wine and fried sausages attracted thousands to go to the streets. In spite of all the terrorist attacks, German people didn't sit at home. Actually, it's impossible because German Christmas markets attract like a magnet...
Certainly, the wine attracted too, whose strong spirit you could feel particularly nearby the Cathedral. It was celebrated mass in the Cathedral, so there dominated the other spirit. After the mass, it started to ...rain.
You could see many people in the Cathedral, but more people enjoyed wine
next to the Cathedral - did it make the nature mad? Anyway, the rain came as a surprise.
Some put up umbrellas, the others stood with no regard for it. It started to rain in torrents...
Only when the umbrellas couldn't help more, the visitors of the Christmas markets 'capitulated' too. After half an hour, the city center was totally empty. It became clear what can drive the people away from the Christmas markets - it's the force of nature!
Actually, not all visitors were in fear of it. A student group stood quietly in the rain and even sang: 'My World are mountains...'
Were these mountains associate with the Römerberg ('Roman mountain'),
the main square of Old town , where the Christmas market was in full swing? Or was there anything else? Anyway, when the old year draws to a close and the New Year stands in front
of the door, the world can turn into fireworks, fairy tales or mountains...

FRANKFURT AM MAIN: DER RÖMERBERG UND WEIN
Sobald man den Hauptbahnhof verlassen hatte, konnte man da die Weihnachtsstimmung
fühlen, die durch die wichtigsten Straßen und Plätze in der Stadtmitte, in der Altstadt sowie am Rhein begleitete.
Es war Freitag nachmittag. Die Sonne, das kuschelige Wetter sowie Gerüche von Zimt,
Wein und gebratenen Würstchen lockten tausende auf die Straßen. Trotz aller Terroranschläge sitzen Deutsche zu Hause nicht, denn Weihnachtsmärkte ziehen wie ein Magnet an...
Es lockte sicher auch Wein, dessen Geist man besonders stark am Dom fühlte. Im Dom dominierte eine andere Stimmung, denn da fand eine Messe statt. Und nach der Messe begann es zu ... regnen. Es waren sehr viele Leute im Dom, aber draußen am Dom gab es noch mehr, und zwar mit einem Glas Wein in der Hand - wurde die Natur deshalb böse?
Jedenfalls, war der Regen unerwartet. Die einen spannten Regenschirme auf, während
die anderen nahmen keine Rücksicht darauf. Es begann in Strömen zu regnen... Als sogar die Regenschirme nicht mehr helfen konnten, "kapitulierten" auch Besucher der Weihnachtsmärkte. Nach einer halben Stunde sah die Stadt wie leer gefegt aus. Es wurde klar,
was die Deutschen aus den Weihnachtsmärkten vertreiben kann, und zwar, die Naturkräfte! Eigentlich hatten nicht alle Angst davor. Eine Studentengesellschaft ließ sich ruhig im Regenguß stehen und sogar sang dabei:
"Meine Welt sind die Berge..."
Waren diese Berge mit der Altstadt verbunden, deren Mitte "Römerberg" heißt, wo der Weihnachtsmarkt in vollem Gange war? Oder steckte etwas anderes drin?
Jedenfalls, wenn sich das alte Jahr dem Ende zuneigt und das Neujahr vor der Tür steht,
kann sich die Welt in Feuerwerke, Berge, Märchen oder sonst noch was verwandeln...

FRANKFURTAS PRIE MAINO: ROMĖNŲ KALNAS IR VYNAS
Šiame mieste kalėdinė dvasia šiais metais pasitiko vos išlipus iš traukinio
centrinėje geležinkelio stotyje ir lydėjo visomis miesto gatvėmis ir aikštėmis centre, senamiestyje ir prie Reino. Penktadienio pavakario saulė, "barchatinis" oras bei vyno ir kepamų dešrelių kvapai išviliojo minias žmonių. Jokie teroristiniai aktai neprivers vokiečių likti namuose, nes Kalėdinės mugės traukia juos tarsi magnetas...
Traukia ir vynas, kurio dvasia stipriausiai jautėsi prie miesto Katedros.
Pačioje Katedroje dominavo kitokia nuotaika, nes čia vyko mišios. O po mišių pradėjo ...lynoti. Katedroje buvo labai daug žmonių, bet lauke netoli katedros dar daugiau mėgavosi vyno taure -
ar dėl to supyko gamta?
Bet kuriuo atveju, lietus buvo netikėtas. Kas išsitraukė skėčius, o kas tiesiog nekreipė į tai dėmesio. Bet kai lietui peraugus į liūtį nebeatlaikė skėčiai, pasidavė ir mugės lankytojai. Perpildytas Frankfurto centras po pusvalandžio atrodė tarsi iššluotas. Štai, kas gali išvaikyti vokiečius iš mugių - gamtos jėgos!
Nors ne visi bėgo netgi ir nuo liūties. Studentų kompanija, apimta kalėdinio vyno nuotaikos,
ne tik leidosi maudomi lietaus senamiesčio centrinėje aikštėje, bet dar ir niūniavo:
"Meine Welt sind die Berge..." ("Mano pasaulis yra kalnai..")
Ar tie kalnai sietini su senamiesčio centru, vadinamu "Römerberg" (Romėnų kalnas), kuriame šurmuliavo Kalėdų mugė, ar su kitais dalykais?
Bet kuriuo atveju, baigiantis seniesiems ir artėjant Naujiesiems Metams,
pasaulis gali virsti viskuo: fejerverkais, pasakomis ir svajonių kalnais!
Su Naujaisiais!!!
