You could see the name 'Nijolė' really often.
In the German city Karlsruhe, there was discovered the
Beauty Salon 'Nijole'. On the internet, you could read an interesting
story about the yacht 'Nijolė'.
In 2018, Lithuania celebrates the 100th anniversary of the restoration
of the independence. At the same time, the Lithuanian Radio and Television (LRT) invited to hoist Lithuanian flags everywhere. It was remembered also historic flags. So, an especially unique tricolor reached Lithuania with the diplomatic post from the USA and was demonstrated in the Lithunian Maritime Museum of Klaipėda. This is the flag of the Ship 'President Smetona', the only Lithuanian military ship of the inter-war period, that was occupied by soviets in July 1940. It was commanded to replace the Lithuanian tricolors by Soviet flags. Three Lithuanian officers didn't obey it, and at night, they fled from the ship with a small yacht 'Nijolė' taking one of two flags with them. Now, this tricolor is privately owned by H. Gaidis, an American collector of Lithuanian origin.

NIJOLĖ: DER NAME UND BENENNUNGEN

Vielfach sind die Benennungen "Nijolė" aufgefallen.
In der deutschen Stadt Karlsruhe entdeckte man zufällig
den Kosmetiksalon "Nijolė", und im Internet - eine interessante
Geschichte über die Jacht "Nijolė".

Wie bekannt, im Jahre 2018 feiert man das Jubiläum: 100 Jahre litauische Unabhängigkeit.* Dazu hat Litauisches Radio und Fernsehen (LRT) aufgerufen, litauische Trikoloren am 16. Februar aufzuziehen, wo es nur möglich ist.
Dabei erinnerte man sich auch an historische Flaggen. Eine besonders unikale Trikolore erreichte Litauen mit der diplomatischen Post aus den USA

und wurde im Seemuseum von Klaipėda ausgestellt.

Das ist die Flagge des Schiffs "Präsident Smetona", des einzigen litauischen Militärschiffs der Zwischenkriegszeit, das Ende Juli 1940 von Sowjets besetzt wurde. Es wurde befohlen, zwei litauische Trikoloren durch sowjetische Flaggen zu ersetzen. Die drei litauischen Offiziere gehorchten nicht und entflohen nachts aus dem Schiff mit der kleinen Jacht "Nijolė", wobei

sie auch eine von den zwei Flaggen mitgenommen haben. Diese Trikolore ist nun in Besitz vom Sammler litauischer Herkunft H. Gaidis.

Es gibt auch mehrere Geschichten, die mit Nijolė verbunden sind.
Die werden aber nach dem Namenstag erzählt!

NIJOLĖ: VARDAS IR PAVADINIMAI

Daug kur teko matyti ir "Nijolės" pavadinimą.
Štai Vokietijos mieste Karlsruhe atsitiktinai aptikau Kosmetikos saloną
"Nijole", o internete - įdomią istoriją apie jachtą, pavadinta "Nijolės" vardu.

Kaip žinia, 2018 m. Lietuva švenčia nepriklausomybės Šimtmetį.*
Ta proga LRT pakvietė iškelti Lietuvos vėliavas, kur tik įmanoma. Buvo prisimintos ir istorinės trispalvės. Unikaliausia jų buvo demonstruojama Lietuvos jūrų muziejuje Klaipėdoje. Tai - vienintelio Lietuvos karo laivo "Prezidentas Smetona" vėliava, kuri buvo atsiųsta iš JAV diplomatiniu paštu.

1940 m. liepos pabaigoje sovietai užėmė karo laivą"Prezidentas Smetona" ir pareikalavo iškelti raudonas vėliavas vietoj dviejų trispalvių, plevėsavusių laivo gale. Trys karininkai - P. Labanauskas (laivo vadas), V. Kuizinas ir R. B. Nakas nepakluso ir pasinaudodami audra pabėgo iš Šventosios į atvirą Baltijos jūrą nedidele jachta, kuri vadinosi "Nijolė". Kartu pasiėmė ir vieną trispalvę (antrosios likimas nežinomas). Šią vėliavą išsaugojo JAV gyvenantis

lietuvis kolekcininkas H. Gaidis.

Būtų galima papasakoti ir daugiau istorijų, susijusių su vardu Nijolė.
